The Blonds Fall 2015 Collection review - A Clockwork Orange meets Femme Fatale

The Blonds was my final show of the Fall 2015 NYFW runway season, and once again, NYC design duo extraordinaire Philllipe and David Blond did not disappoint, truly giving their audience a SHOW

“For Fall 2015, THE BLONDS will weave a cinematic tapestry paying homage to directors Jodorowsky (“The Holly Mountain”) and Kubrick (“A Clockwork Orange”) as well as characters like Tilda Swinton as Orlando. A battle royale of Fantasy vs. Reality, the BLOND WORLD ORDER begins!”

Donning custom made and simply TO-DIE-FOR Christian Louboutin boots, models strutted down the runway at Milk Studios dressed in crystal and paillette adorned catsuits, bustiers, and body suits as well as extravagant fur coats by Helen Yarmak and uber cool bomber jackets. Each look was more outrageous and fabulous than the next, which is only to be expected from The Blonds.

As this show review is about The Blonds, I must give mention to the absolute spectacle of the pre-show Cirque du Fabuleux!

At each runway presentation, the pre-show seating is a scene.  Photographers swarm around whatever celebrity or major fashion influencer is in attendance, in order to capture THE shot of the designer’s “Front Row”.  It has become common place for a runway show to begin at least twenty to twenty-five minutes past the scheduled start time, in order build the energy and sense of excitement in the room.  At The Blonds, their show begins, at a minimum, forty five minutes past the called start time, and everyone in attendance is perfectly fine with that.  The Blonds pre-show reminds me of a 1980’s summer camp reunion of famed Club Kids, drag queens and downtown fashion influencers/personalities, reflecting the New York sub-culture ultra-chic; it is an air-kissing, pose striking and people watching extravaganza! The Blonds is unquestionably my favorite show of the NYFW season, as I grew up in New York City, was a teen in the 80’s, and personally took part in that landscape.  When I attend The Blonds, I get to see my friends in person, whom I don’t see other than at the show or on Facebook as I reside in Los Angeles, and I always have such a sensational time.  The below collage contains a few of my personal photos, captured during the pre-show.
