As we waited for the Monique Lhuiller Fall 2015 runway show to commence, ominous music reminiscent of a piece of a score from a Federico Fellini or Orson Wells film filled the Theatre at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Highlighting a rich color palate of jewel tones including emerald, cobalt blue, deep violet, teal and deep plum, Los Angeles based fashion and bridal designer Monique Lhuillier showcased a truly stunning collection of mid-calf skirts, cigarette pants, structured jackets, cocktail dresses and elegant art deco inspired gowns.  I was particularly impressed by her use of glimmering crystal encrusted black tights and sheer star embroidered catsuits, which felt like a nod to 1970’s Ziggy Stardust glam rock. This was definitely a new direction for Monique as the collection was much more body conscious and structured than seasons past, with absolutely no tulle to be found.

With A-list celebrity fans including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Chastain, Beyonce, Sophia Vergara and Taylor Swift, I can easily predict that several of her beautiful and intricate gowns will be donning the Red Carpet this coming fall.

Standout looks for me included:

Teal multi floral camo jacquard and Guipure lace long sleeve dress

Deep violet shearling jacket, noir Guipure lace long sleeve top, and plum multi floral camo jacquard pant

Forest green multi floral embroidered long sleeve gown

Gunmetal embroidered illusion gown

Antique gold embroidered chiffon illusion gown
