Hey readers!! A picture can tell a thousand words and art paintings can cost thousands of dollars some even millions. So I thought to myself, I would love to speak to a art dealer ( you know, the aesthetic side of making money) and find out  all about Picasso  prices . I went into my wallet and pulled out Derek Storm buissness card not only is he known as a art dealer  for Taglialatella Galleries,  which has been a major force in the international art community for over 30 years, Mr. Storm is also a freelance, independent photographer who has appeared in such periodicals as People, Rolling Stone, Us Weekly, In Touch, NY Post and NY Daily News with an array of celebrity photos including Actors, Actresses, Musicians, Athletes, Astronauts and TV Personalities. After mentioning all that, I am thinking his lense has done a whole lot of zooming in and zooming out. Let me get back to my focus. Drinkers and all that are sober here is the waroholic himself Mr. Derek Storm

Hey there snapshot taker who's art you selling today?

Derek
Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat & Roy Lichtenstein

David
As a photographer what are artistic similarities you have with the artist that give you their paintings to sell?

Derek
To make the end product likable and respectable

David
As photographer one needs to visually see what the captured moment should reveal and being a art dealer one must have an extensive knowledge of  art. Charisma is also a must, as is the ability to listen well. How are you able to exude these qualities?

Derek
Knowledge can be learned. Charisma is either there or not and is interpreted differently. Ability to listen comes and goes depending on how interesting it is to hear what's being said.

Being a art dealer and photographer has one profession helped you with the other?

Derek
Yes

David
Who in your opinion is the modern day Picasso?

Derek
Picasso
is the most successful artist of all time. Hard to ever compare anyone living to him. Picasso invented, created, perfected and broke grounds in everything he did. Not too many people do that anymore.

David
Alot of people are under the impression that they can't afford a Picasso painting is that true?

Derek
I can sell an orginal Picasso to anybody no matter thier finacial status.

David
If Mary Willson one day decided to paint her perception of Diana Ross how much do you think a painting like that would go for?

Mark, Mary Willson, Randy and Derek

Derek
Monetary value would be irrelevant if such a creation was ever made. That would be the true definition of art, coming from the heart and soul.

David
What is the most rewarding part of being a art dealer / photographer?

Derek
For me, hooking grateful and interested people up with good quality art.

David
What are you most passionate about?

Derek
Passion

David
Who was your favorite celebrity to shoot and why?

Derek
Hard to answer as each situation and person is different. My favorite celebs in general may have been hard to shoot because of the situation (like Tina Turner in concert). Grace Jones surprised me and became by far one of the most memorable moments in my life. Ian Somerhalder of all people, being young, yet seasoned, shook my hand and thanked me as if I was doing him a favor, which is basically true. The camera loves Bon Jovi and he's always fun to shoot. Randy Jones of the Village People loves the camera and it loves him back and each and every shoot, event and opportunity is a lesson learned in living and enjoying life. Shooting Paul McCartney in a relaxed environment was a very memorable and rewarding experience. I can go on.

David
What is some advice you could give anyone who wants to follow in the path of a art dealer or photographer?

Derek
Don't follow it and let it lead you if it does.

David
What would you like to share with all the readers?

Derek
If it's not fun then stop.
