David
Hey there gossip whore how are you?

Michael
I'm great. I can't ask for a more enchanted lifestyle. I get to go to parties every night, meet celebrities, and then write whatever I want about it all. Today's been a good gossip day, but in a very sad way. Ted Koppel's son died and Al Gore and Tipper seem to be separating. Things are dark and awful, but strangely, that helps my business.

David

How do you deal with things that make you sad, or negativity that is directed towards you?

Michael
I always use humor as a defense mechanism  for any dark thoughts or situations.

David
If writing didn't pan out the way it did for you, what was your plan B?

Michael
I had no plan B. I have no other skills. I can't even drive a car. I can only go to parties and write about them.

David
What is the biggest misconception people have about you?

Michael
A lot of people think that I am bitch, but it's not the case. I am just a nice boy from Brooklyn .

David
What are some of the hardships you endured in your career for being openly gay?

Michael
Hardships let me think. I started the column in 1984, and I was the only gay columnist that was out so that made me unique and it drew a lot of negative attention from all the homophobes, and a lot of publicist who were gay themselves and wanted to denounce my column instead of embracing the change I was making.

David
Do you think America would be open to having a gay President?

Michael
Yes I do. I think there will be a woman President first, then a gay or lesbian President, and I believe it will be in our lifetime?

David
What are your thoughts on Obama as President?

Micheal

I think he is showing the pitfalls of being president. W left a big mess for him to clean up, but he is on the right track and thank God it's not Sarah Plain running this country.

David
Do you think Obama has gay tendencies?

Michael
No. I think he strictly likes woman.

David
What past Presidents do you think were gay?

Michael
Well there are stories that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were gay. I mean I don't think they did it with each other, but I believe they slept with men.

David
You are around a lot of celebrities who in your opinion is the most authentic in their public persona?

Michael
I would have to say Rosie O'Donnell  because once she came out she became this out spoken lesbian on and off screen, what you see is what you get with her. Also Lady Gaga is very honest and up front and it's great to have her be on the team .

David
What celebrity to you think is in the closet about their sexuality?

Michael

Jodie Foster  is a lesbian.

David
Isn't it interesting when actors or singers keep their sexual identity a secret in fear of ruining their careers, but when they do come out it elevates their careers.

Michael

Yes. It's weird, I mean no one really cares if you are or your not.

David
What do you fear most?

Michael
I fear losing it all and ending up in the gutter. My mother always made me worry about things, but it's useless to worry because at the end things always work out.

David

How is your love life?

Michael
I have no love life. I also choose not to be in a relationship. I always fuck things up when it comes to dating. There is apart of me that is scared to let someone in.

David
What advice do you have for anyone that is struggling to make it has a columnist?

Michael
Be original and go out as much as possible, don't be afraid to experience things you are not familiar with, and if you are not passionate about it don't do it, because it will show!

David
I ain't one to gossip, but you did hear it from me. Michael Musto is above all self-deprecating. He makes fun of himself before anybody else. His passion for writing resonates like cool wind blowing on a hot summer day. I thank you Michael for taking the time out and speaking with me. I wish you all the right words with no spelling errors for the days to come. That's all he wrote readers, but you can always click him in at http://blogs.villagevoice.com/dailymusto/
