LASplash.com: Miami Main Feature The Westin Grand Bohemian Review - Orlando Florida Luxury By Devananda Lila
The Westin Grand Bohemian in Downtown Orlando Florida - second to none in luxury!
Unconventional in appearance as well as atmosphere, this exquisite European-style downtown Orlando hotel offers so much more than the name suggests. Convenience to the downtown area, exceptional quality in design and wonderfully intriguing art make The Westin Grand Bohemian hotel truly stand out among it's competitors. Service at this hotel is unparalleled.
The entry way and lobby of the hotel are extremely inviting, cozy and of course luxurious with vaulted ceilings of red and gold Smalti Tile imported from Italy. The hotel houses a several million dollar art collection which is apparent throughout the property, especially in the lobby, lounge, restaurants and of course the art gallery! Owner Richard C. Kessler's fascination with art fills the hotel from top to bottom - every floor and every room!
In the lobby giant mosaics and paper Mache mannequins created by pepper the velvet luxury.
The lounge features art that any collector would envy such as a gorgeous wall size depiction of 'Daniel in the Lions Den' and another entitled 'The call of Salome' which complements the ambiance of the room. I was further intrigued to learn that almost all of the art housed in the hotel is on consignment (for sale!)
Off the 'Bosendorfer Lounge' is the 'Klimt Rotunda' piano room which is the setting to a stunning Sunday brunch within the majestic glass walls of the sky lit circular room. The hotel additionally houses two exquisite Bosendorfer pianos. Although my schedule did not permit me to attend the Sunday brunch, I will say, without doubt, that the Grand Bohemian is first-class in every respect.
Beyond the rotunda you will find the very posh and sophisticated menu offered by the 'Boheme Restaurant' where edible delights enchant both the eyes and the pallet.
From the lobby you can also visit the lavishly quaint art gallery which includes a gift shop. Interesting gifts and a range of modern to Asian art are available inside. There is also a private entrance into Starbucks next door on the lobby level.
At the Westin Grand Bohemian Hotel I always encountered smiling and inviting service from all levels of the staff and management. The hotel and its superior services gave me a real sense of being truly at home - a certain comfort zone that I have never experienced at another hotel. You get the sense that the people who work there truly feel it is their honor and privilege to serve you. Many of staff members have been with the hotel since its opening.
The suites at The Westin Grand Bohemian are a picture perfect with beautiful views of downtown Orlando. Extremely inviting velvets and rich woods decorate each room along with the finest 'Westin Heavenly Bed' linens and plenty of space. My suite included a full Jacuzzi bath tub (which I enjoyed tremendously - just add bubbles!) as well as a full double headed his and hers style shower.
Of course a hotel of this quality would attract the rich and famous. One of the unique and enchanting qualities of the hotel's design is its ability to preserve for its guests the feeling of anonymity and exclusivity. The executive offices housed on the 5th floor proudly display the many celebrities and superstars that have walked its halls.
Also on the 5th floor is the perfectly bohemian 9,600 sq. ft. grand ballroom and conference centers. With more then adequate, flexible meeting spaces for both small and large events. This hotel is also ideally located near the TD Waterhouse Performance Theater.
On sixth floor you can workout in the cozy and well equipped fitness center or step outside to the rooftop haven for pool side dining or to slip in to the Jacuzzi. The decor, richly adorned in whites the hotel's pool area is booked most weekends for weddings and events.
Superior service and quality is why the Westin Grand Bohemian Hotel outshines so many other hotels and is why the Grand Bohemian has won the 'Best In Brand' Award four times in a row. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in the Orlando, Florida area. The 'Bohemian' theme hotels are spreading to Atlanta, Georgia and Saint Petersburg, Florida. Look for them as they are an excellent choice for accommodations and intrigue.
