Kelly Davis – More than Miss Kenya

My name is Kelly Wairimu Davis. I was born in Wichita, KS on Nov 27, 1992 and enjoying being 21 years old.  My mother is Kenyan, my father is Native American, and I have four sisters and one brother. Growing up in Kansas, I always had big city dreams. After 12 years of dance training, tap being my favorite, I thought I would move to New York and tap on Broadway.

I started modeling when I was 15 in Kansas for local stores and newspapers. I graduated high school and my modeling agency took me to Florida to compete in a huge competition called AMTC (Actors, Models, Talent for Christ). I was nominated for Best Actress, Best Commercial Model, I received an acting scholarship to the New York Film Academy and I had callbacks from Tyler Perry Studios among other modeling and acting agencies! This really sky rocketed my career and took my dreams to a new level. A month or two after the competition, I moved to Los Angeles to attend the New York Film Academy at the Burbank location and began my serious career as a model and actor.

Queen Latifah Show

Since graduation from the New York Film Academy in 2012, I have been very blessed these doors have opened for me and I have seen myself grow in my career. Some things I have done recently are modeling winter fashions on the Queen Latifah Show, working on Real Husbands of Hollywood with Kevin Hart casted to play his dietician, modeling hair for Hair Sense Catalog, and most recently representing Kenya in the Queen of the Universe Pageant on March 16 in Beverly Hills.

Real Husbands of Hollywood

This really gave me a chance to express one of my biggest passions and the reason I do all I do, the ability to help and provide for my family in Kenya and be the voice for Kenyan women with my charity platform for the pageant. My charity is called Running and raises awareness of Female Genital Mutilation in Kenya and all countries, by educating the tribes about the dangers of physical and psychological effects of FGM, as well as offer safe houses for girls who run away from their families to escape this form of Child Abuse.
