Who is Kahlelah Monique Goodine aka Lelah G??? What constitutes the physical, mental, and overall makeup of the young supermodel-to-be? What drives a woman like her, a blossoming model, and budding entrepreneur, destined to accomplish the status of a notably positive role model in a competitive society? I, Lelah, embody the makeup of a simple yet complex, ambitious yet thankful, driven yet content, go-getter with an ever-burning flame of determination to become and remain a recognizable face in the world of modeling.

-MEMORY LANE-

Modeling has not always been my aspirations. My dream was to become a famous singer. God blessed me with the vocal talent, which first began with my mother, then passed along to me. My singing ability carried me through the church choir, Westchester High school graduation, college events & graduation, and a stage performance for the 2006 LA Black Business Expo Urban Idol Competition, earning me the highest score for the R&B genre. Most recently, I've sang backup for recording artist Vi, and gave my voice for two test tracks to be shopped around to current pop artists . . .

Let's begin: Upon graduation on June 13, 2004 from the University of California, Santa Cruz, from which I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Digital Media, my feet temporarily landed me in Fresno, CA; surprisingly, Fresno is where I received my first few modeling opportunities. A dear friend of mine, Monica Chatman, introduced me to her photographer Ed Lawrence, thus becoming my first professional photo shoot. Soon after, I navigated myself to working with Mrs. Brenda Buckingham, of Buckingham Images & Modeling Agency. Through Buckingham Images, I modeled in three local fashion shows, providing makeup for one of them. I received minor modeling opportunities while residing in Fresno, CA, and all endeavors were during my working a corporate 8-5 job.

Modeling between the end of 2005, and summer of 2006, was halted due to personal circumstances, and relocation (from Fresno back to Inglewood), and resumed towards the end of summer 2006. The first fashion show after my homecoming was with popular LA clothing designer Kami Shade, for her then-bi-monthly fashion showcase, Hollywood Shop ‘Til You Drop. My first clothing line web catalog shoot was for popular LA/Atlanta designer Miquel Torres, and 2006 marked my first taste on the set of two music videos.

-BABY STEPS-

The year ended with evening ‘exposure-only’ fashion showcases, building a resume & portfolio, and re-establishing myself into my hometown, out of school. 2007 introduced me to more opportunities, including the then-monthly Fashion Meets Music showcase, created by Dennica Abdo. Through her fashion group and other shows, I began building rapport with emerging designers, like Sterling Williams, Victoria Jefferson of Nondi Luxe Swimwear, Franco + Russe, Tysha & Tyshel Lockamy of Lockame Designs, among many others. My most memorable beginner modeling jobs were for Carly Franz of Grown & Sexy Clothing at the MAGIC Fashion Tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV; Studio C Clothing by Sanjeev Chowdry for the Women’s Wear In Nevada (WWIN) Show (also in Las Vegas); and walking in the 2007 LA Black Business Expo COOLture fashion show, and for Cyndarella Couture in the 1st Annual Hip Hop Regional Awards. I knew, then, that I was destined to soar as a fashion model, and embark on larger opportunities.

-EMERGENCE-

By the end of 2007, I had built a rather diverse portfolio and an extensive resume. I had signed a year’s non-exclusive contract with Mega Artist Talent Agency (my first agency representation), and began looking for modeling management. 2008 has raised the bar completely. I embarked on a year’s term as the west coast fit model for Pastry Apparel by Vanessa & Angela Simmons, modeled for the Warehouse Shoe Sale (WSS) popular Southern California athletic store chain, and have played various roles for an assortment of music videos, television shows, and movies. These accomplishments crossed over into 2009, among recurring appearances in several fashion shows, promotions & event marketing events, tradeshows & conventions, radio interviews with Playboy Sirius/XM 99, two fashion showcases for FOX 11's "Style File" segment on Good Day LA, and my participation as Miss South Bay, in the 2010 Miss Black California USA pageant, during which I earned my place at #8 in the Top Ten rank.

My experience has nonetheless provided me with the significant steps toward establishing an international career in modeling and, potentially, acting, and the tools to guide and teach other young urban women who are aspiring models/actresses. As I have grown through this industry, I have lent an unchanging helping hand to fellow models, made myself available to more opportunities, and I am very thankful to my Lord & Savior for the doors that have opened for me. Currently, I am spokesmodeling for Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicles. My portfolio also includes Moet Hennessy USA, Cabo Wabo Tequila, among many other beverage brands. Currently, I am an active participant in the Swimsuit USA Int'l competitions. Additionally, I am working toward beginning my own model management & staffing company. 2009 was my time to shine, and in 2010 I was next in line, so now in 2011, there will be NO half-steppin'!
