How did you get involved in the Queen of the Universe Pageant?
My Father had always wanted me to participate in pageantry; he used to watch the ones on Spanish TV and would tell me "You should do that." One month prior to hearing of Queen of the Universe, I lost my Father to Cancer. So I went in representing my Father’s country, Spain. It was as if he put the pageant in my path; as if he was showing me he was still with me. During the rehearsals and the pageant process I always had my Mother by my side she always came with me, so it became our therapy; my Dad was with us every step of the way.
How did you prepare for the Pageant?
I had to really know my current events I watched a lot of CNN and read the newspaper; you really need to know what’s going on around the world.
Tell me a little about the Queen of the Universe Pageant.
Queen of the Universe is different from any other pageant because it is a charity based pageant that benefits the UNESCO Foundation for Children in Need. In Queen of the Universe, unlike other pageants, girls can be single, married, divorced or have any particular gender choice. Our president believes that woman should never be judged on those things. The only important thing is that all the contestants must have a charity base platform. The great thing about my year was that I made friends that I know will be in my life forever and a lot of the girls have their own charities and now we get to support each other.
What was your Charity Platform?
I have a couple of Charity Platforms; my main one is "My Sister's Closet." It is a charity for teens that are homeless or financially struggling. I collect clothing, jackets, prom dresses, shoes, accessories and makeup and they come and I will help them put things together. Another charity I’m involved in is “Casey's Rescue.” My sister, a few friends and I created an animal rescue program, we find animals off the street, or abandoned, and find them good homes. It becomes difficult at times because we are all animal lovers so we get attached, but we keep in contact with all our adopters and they send photos and keep us posted on how happy they are.
How has being Queen of the Universe changed your life?
During my reign I have been involved in many charities, I have met so many children that are in need, or that are ill, or are bullied. I would like to continue this path in charity work; it has really opened my eyes to the important things in life. I know that I won't have my crown any more to make a child smile when I walk in the room (I'll be minus that super power) but I will continue to try to make someone’s day shine a little brighter.
Now that your reign is over what’s next for you?
I will continue my goals in becoming an actress and a model, which has been my dream since I was a little girl. I am an athlete and a competitor by nature so I will be taking on the fitness world and start in bikini fitness modeling.
