Hannah Rokes was born and raised in rural India until she was 3 years old, when she and her older sister were adopted by a family in Camden, Maine. There she developed a clear sense that her creative talents and dreams in life needed to be expressed in a larger and more diverse setting. So, after graduating from high school, she came to New York where she graduated with a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute in 2006. She got her start in fashion photography as well as, shooting various events. However, she also specializes in creative portraiture dealing with the core beauty of women and the language of the heart, she also designs and hand crafts head pieces that are used in her portraits.

When asked if she always wanted to go into Fashion Photography she said, "I never thought I would go into fashion it kind of just happened, I never saw myself as a "fashion person" but it works for me, also when I was younger I was obsessed with clashing my clothes. If I could I would have clashed every day to school. Unfortunately people realized I wasn't really color blind and I was made to wear normal matching clothes to school... Also aside from clashing clothes I was also very much obsessed with wearing dresses, but not just any dresses they had to be REALLY fancy dresses, where I would look over dressed, but to me I thought I looked just right. So I guess I have always had some fashion in me, but still I did not think fashion was my thing, but I do love it now, and my head pieces that I design is a form of fashion and my trademark now, so life has a weird way of putting you were you should be!"

Though you might mistake her for a model or actress, she is a fierce competitor in the photography world, she always seems to get to the front of the line at shows and events and she seems to attract many people with her unique look, poised mannerism, and not to mention an eye for getting the shot. Ms. Rokes is currently working on a gallery show and a book both dealing with the essence of the real woman, where you will definitely get to see her signature head pieces.
