Natasha Blasick is a rising star in the world of entertainment. This native of Ukraine starred in the feature films Death of Evil, The Black Russian, Notes From The New World and mockbuster Paranoid Activity 2. Now based in Los Angeles, Natasha augments her busy acting schedule with modeling shoots and music projects.
This June, Natasha is headed back to Ukraine as a special guest of the Brigantine International Film Festival where her feature film, Notes from the New World, is being screened. Notes is director Vitaly Sumin’s re-envisioning of classic literature by Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky. “I’m thrilled to be invited to Ukraine,” says Blasick. “I want to bring Hollyood to Ukraine and vice versa.” Natasha plays the part of Sonia, based on the character Sonia from Crime and Punishment. Notes has already picked up festival awards in Moscow and Marbella, Spain.
Always looking for new forms of expression Natasha has embarked on two different musical projects. Her EP of electronica laced pop features Natasha’s understated vocals and is titled Live In Your World. Her first song was a frothy take on Double Rainbow using the words of the Double Rainbow guy, Bear Vasquez. Natasha’s version took off after Bear favorited her version on his YouTube channel. The pair ended up shooting a version together. The serendipity at play inspires Natasha to always try new things and have fun outside of acting.
Snowflakes is the other side of Natasha musical world in which she plays bass guitar for this rock duo. For electric shows the group augments itself with a live drummer. Acoustic shows are played as a duo. Daisy Rock Guitars, known for their feminine instruments has just welcomed Natasha to its artist roster as an official endorsee. Says Natasha, “I’m so grateful for the recognition of my musical journey. I’m pretty much at the beginning of my musical journey but I try to play every note on my Butterfly bass like it's going to unlock the secret of life.”
Yet acting remains as the centerpiece of Natasha Blasick’s career. Likened to Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn by one of her directors, the fresh faced Blasick is looking for the role that will put her on track for an Oscar. A huge Meryl Streep fan, Natasha relishes the art and craft of acting, digging deeply into the characters she plays. For the role of Anna Kashfi, the real life wife of Marlon Brando in Brando Unauthorized, Natasha immersed herself in the character and the person. “It was such a challenge to play a layered, real person who is still with us. I really was transformed during that shoot.”
Natasha is grateful for an already eventful life and career that has taken her around the world. She gives back by participating in charitable events at every opportunity. And, with Snowflakes, she spreads a message of environmental responsibility. “I’m a tree hugger!. The trees where I live have gotten a lot Natasha Blasick hugs. I believe we all have something to give. Sometimes it’s only a smile or a hug. But every little bit helps.” Watch for that face, that girl, that actress, Natasha Blasick.
