Chance Cessna has a vibrant, loving personality and her confident, assertive attitude posture her to be one of the most distinctive leaders in broadcast journalism of her generation. With a passion to cover and shed light on underreported, controversial issues, Chance is devoted to discovering and sharing these truths with the world. This same passion translates when she's interviewing some of the hottest celebrities. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, her tenacity and commitment to excellence allow her to radiate from the newsroom to the red carpet.

Chance has a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from George Washington University ('12). While in school, she completed several internships including celebrity gossip site YBF.com, CW Television Network, and WUSA 9 News. She also hosted a campus-based weekly radio program at WRGW radio and worked as a freelance journalist. Chance developed a keen understanding of both radio and television production for which she was highly regarded and sought out for in the community. In 2011, Chance placed second runner-up in the Miss DC International Pageant. Chance's success has led her to interview notables such as Hill Harper, Yolanda Adams, Soledad O'Brien, Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke, and Gabrielle Union.  Her background in both entertainment and hard news make her a versatile, distinctive, and precious asset to the world of broadcast journalism.

In a recent interview we learned a bit more about Chance.

In December of 2012, you won Miss Congeniality 2013 and appeared on the Steve Harvey talk show on NBC. What have you been up to since then?

Chance: A lot! (laughing). In February I moved to Los Angeles from Chicago to pursue my career in the entertainment industry. I started in television when I was 15 and I have been trying to get to Hollywood since then and it just amazes me to see my dreams coming true right before my eyes. I have made several appearances in commercials, TV shows since moving out here and recently got back from filming "Think Like A Man Too" in which I will make a small featured appearance in. So everyday is different and I am at a very exciting time in my life.

You also made the big chop and cut your hair since the pageant. What inspired you to do that?

I always loved the short look. I feel like you can just see my face better and it's a lot easier to maintain. I couldn't keep up with all the hair weaves! (laughing) So the short hair is a different look for me but I feel a lot more comfortable wearing it.

You are a TV Host, Actor, Producer, and Motivational Speaker. You are like superwoman! How are you balancing it all?

Well I just take things day by day. I try not to get overwhelmed and when I do, I just pray and ask God for peace and clarity. I started off in radio and television in college and did several internships while taking a lot of classes so I am use to working a lot. I have always been a go-getter and always desired more out of life than what I was given. Yet, when you truly love what you do, it doesn't feel like work.

I know you are also very active in the community. What kinds of organization are you apart of?

Since I moved to Los Angeles, I have done a lot of work with an organization called Burgers and Bibles. We go out every other Wednesday and feed the homeless on Skid Row. Every time I go, I come back a changed and better person and I love it.

Who do you admire the most?

My father raised me, my brother, and sister by himself. And to see how hard he worked for us all to be successful and all graduate from college blows my mind. My father is truly my hero. He taught me to think like a man and act like a lady when it comes to business! (laughing) So I definitely get my work ethic from him.

What future projects do you have coming up?

I am in the process of writing my new book and just working on several other industry projects that I can't go into to much detail about. I will also be doing a lot more public speaking engagements which I love to do.

On August 31, 2012, Chance launched It's By Chance, an online publication featuring the latest lifestyle news, entertainment and fashion trends. In December of 2012, Chance won the title of Miss Congeniality at the Miss Illinois USA 2013 pageant.
