Book Review - "Death by Hollywood"

"Death by Hollywood" is a Steven Bochco murder mystery, which keeps you guessing as it takes you down a twisty murder investigation. It is very Hollywood, very sexy, somewhat vulgar, full of morally challenged characters, and lots of fun.

"Death by Hollywood" is the story of Bobby Newman, a down-on-his-luck Hollywood screenwriter, who tries to turn a brutal murder into his nest movie payday. One day, while spying on his Beverly Hills neighbors through his $4,000 Bushnell XR90 electronic telescope, Bobby sees a well-known, beautiful socialite bludgeon her lover to death with an acting trophy. Instead of reporting the crime to the police, Bobby insinuates himself into the investigation in order to write a screenplay about it. Along the way, he forges a unique friendship with Detective Dennis Farentino that unexpectedly turns out to be more complex than either of them bargain for.

Bochco winner of 10 Emmy awards - six for "Hill Street Blues", three for "L.A. Law" and one for "NYPD Blue", is a master storyteller. Writing about what he knows well Hollywood and crime.  If you like an intriguing racy novel I recommend it.
