Jean-Noel Chazelle was born in Senegal and currently resides in Paris. He spends his time between Paris, Spain, and the US, where he has an
Atelier (the
NoAma in Massachusetts).
Jean-Noel Chazelle was a performance artist for seven years at the Clédalique Gallery in Cadaques Spain, founded by Salvador Dali himself. There, he met Montserrat Dali, the cousin of the famous painter. In 1997, the French artist began experimenting with acrylic on Plexiglas.

Chazelle’s paintings are a mix between science, philosophy and poetry. His work is centered around the energy transported by light, perpetual metamorphosis, the intemporality. When one first looks at the painting, one sees something that seems to be abstract, but then discovers the combination of the form. One of the particularities of the artist is that he doesn’t use a brush for his painting. To go to

The theme of the movies is “Painters and Provence”.
Charles de Lartigue was born in Provence, a region located in the southeast of France, and he spent his childhood in the same area that the painter Cézanne used to paint. The French artist has a background in History and has always had a strong passion for art. He had the idea to write and direct movies tracing the life of various painters in the region of Provence. On October 3, we discovered and rediscovered the portrayal of four painters: Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Signac and Henri Matisse. Each of these painters had a strong connection with Provence at one period in their life.
These movies are more than a documentary. It shows us the life of the painter through the eyes of the painter himself. Each of the movies is filmed in Provence, and through each depiction,
Charles de Lartigue leads us at the same time on a journey through this beautiful region. It is as if, for half an hour, we escape from our own reality and travel to the South of France, admiring the paintings of these various artists, living with them as if in a friendship, and understand more about their secrets, life, and the mystery behind their paintings.
Charles de Lartigue wrote the four movies between 1994 and 1996. He was at this time the pioneer of the High-Definition in France. He is now working on a new movie documenting the life of the Swiss sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti. In the near future, he also plans to direct a movie about the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso.
