Oxley brings a taste of Great Britain to pair with Reiss
Equating to changeling heaven; Saturday, April 26, 2012 on Robertson Drive was mellifluously lit by a cascading handful of tasteful boutique parties. Embracing the epitome of international and historically British fashion, Reiss brought forth their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection for the coinciding of BritWeek in Los Angeles.
Old Hollywood style campaign for Spring/Summer 2012 Collections
A more perfect example of cross Atlantic collaboration remains to be seen as Reiss flew to Los Angeles this season to shoot their Spring/Summer 2012 Campaign. Photography and videography is founded around young Los Angeles and old Hollywood style; titling their editorials in Reiss Journal No.3 - Valley Girl, Hot Young Things, and The Player; descriptions for the “Los Angeles love affair” fell into “See You At Sunset” and “Much More Than Straight-Out Nostalgia”.
Menswear at Reiss is experimenting in new styles, cuts, and fabrics
Browsing the solution to any wardrobe's slacking
The latest in menswear from a conscientious fashion house that revels in individuality and meticulous selection is characterized by new explorations in linen, explorer jackets, short suits, double breasted jackets, marl knits and chinos. Womenswear begot “L.A. Style” in dip dyes and vintage forms with heavy textures accentuating fine pleats, powder light silks in pastels and ornate, rich fabrics such as lacy knits. Continuing its traditional artistic erudition, Reiss focused on retro-inspired prints unrecognizable to an untrained eye, exemplified in butterfly wings on an ivory snow bikini. The selection of an artist or graphic artist once a year to release designs on scarves and shirts in watercolor or dimensional prints influxes knowledge that whilst Reiss is a designer label, there is a incisive demand for thought put into each design for the aesthetic of the collection.
The King's Horse by Tobias Keene
Third Generation British painter Tobias Keene sustained such philosophy and exemplified the British – United States collaboration as an artist presently residing in Los Angeles. “His majestic and captivating art continues to explore a quality of lost innocence through the immediacy of color, texture and form.” The King’s Horse, a 12 by 8 feet oil and mixed mediums on canvas focalizes on ancient tradition through the story of a magnificent horse released into the wild for one year, whereupon a golden spear killing the horse after a ceremonious hunt is subsequently made into gold coins distributed throughout the region.
Boutique barely met fire code
DJ Rawdon performed his exemplary magic for a “new and old groove,” meshing in perfection with guests and strikingly picturesque surroundings as guests mingled amongst deep turquoise lounging couches and lush yet stolid designer label selections. Sales representatives were available to complete transactions as well as offer insightful choice items to the Oxley Classic English Gin cocktail sipping attendees.
