Friday, October 19th, 2012 LA Fashion Weekend kicked off in full gear at Sunset Gower studio in Hollywood Los Angeles.
Like every year designers, media and fashion fans were able to sip on delicious drinks from Lovoka, Chambois, Little Black Dress Vodka and taste some beautifully decorated cupcakes from Bubba Sweets. Nobu was supplying Sushi for the good looking crowd and had a wonderful display of one of their rooms in a corner of the Fashion tent with a gorgeous male model lounging in one of their comfortable beds handing out cards, making all ladies swoon and wonder: do all Nobu Hotels come with that kind of “gentle-man”? Napoleaon Perdos had his usual Make up station at the pre event and was beautifying the ladies minutes before the show. Other sponsors of the night included Wella, Bibi, Hoodiebuddie, Sugar Scout, Beverly Hills Porsche, Apparel News, GlamGlow, LA Fashion Magazine, Hollyscoop, Hollywood Weekly, American Gentleman Magazine, Diversity News, Public Counsel, Splash Magazines, Shibue Couture, Earthwise and the fashion law group.
The evening was dedicated to LA Style SWIMWEAR Spring/ Summer collection 2013 featuring a very diverse group of designers.
The evening opened with the performance of the boy band Midnight Red, a very energetic and dynamic group of young guys who heated up the runway with their song “ Hell Ya” and some cool dance moves.
Culture swimwear by Hope Reiner opened the evening with some colorful pink and coral one-pieces, fresh, fringe bikinis and high-waist bottoms, reminding on the 50is.
Along with using entirely recycled and vintage fabrics, the process to make the designs also uses a non-toxic dyeing process and makes this line completely environmental friendly. The line showed some exotic tub top bikinis in salmon and light blue, unique one-pieces in green and black with accentuated backs and one pieces with low V necks that reminded on the 70is.
Next was Amelie Swimwear by Andrea Abaunze who is also an eco-conscious line.
The collection also uses only knitted elasticized fabrics (a combination of polyamide and elastane), silk and silk chiffon. The uniting color is turquoise, with accents of blues, lilacs, fuchsia, orange, and red, which evoke an exotic and vibrant atmosphere drawn from nature and Abaunze’s passion for life.
All of these colors are featured in a blue/ turquoise and purple/turquoise one-piece, orange tube bikini w/ high-waist bottoms, orange and pink dresses evoking femininity and movement.
Kate Swimwear generated a feverish craze for the cutest opening of her collection with models walking with lots of pizzaz in embellished bikinis and lots of movement on the runway.
Nicolita summed up the evening with her Havana Nights collection by Christina Milan, a conservative sexy and curve conscious line, drawing inspirations from her family's cultural Cuban roots, including black with lace bikinis, black and turquoise bikinis and a sexy leopard one piece.
Nicole Di Rocco continues to create each bikini collection that is reminiscent of Cuba's alluring 1940's era by blending vintage glamour with modern day silhouettes.
