Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off in full gear on October 12, 2008. Held at
Smashbox Studios in Culver City,
Whitley Kros was the last show of the evening and I do have to say that the design duo—
Marisa Ribisi and
Sophia Coloma—has captured a spring collection that embarks a romantic, yet wild ride.

The fictional character,
Whitley Kros, is a young girl created by
Ribisi and
Coloma. They created the name—
Whitley Kros—by using the street names of
Ribisi’s and
Coloma’s hometowns of Los Angeles and Sydney.
Whitley Kros embodies
Ribisi’s and
Coloma’s vision and design of a style that is fun and relaxed with plenty of colorful and unique prints to mirror a storyline of a chic traveling exploration.

Whitley Kros
Whitley Kros’ romantic adventure in Morocco, Greece and Africa was the inspiration behind the Spring 2009 Collection. The materials used for the collection—solid silk, linen/cotton knits, printed silks, washed chambray, printed chiffon, printed silks, and printed cotton.

The collection's color palate is sky blue, mustard, sherbet, silver, and navy solids mix in with romantic, whimsical prints.
The show was beautiful and vivacious filled with lots of energy but in a casual, natural way. The collection looked extremely unique and personified
Whitley Kros’ traveling adventures in the perfect way.
