White Trash Beautiful Spring 2011 Collection Review - Edgy Clothing For The Trendy Woman

Richie Sambora and Nikki Lund debuted their highly anticipated clothing line WHITE TRASH BEAUTIFUL to a packed audience for LA Fashion Weekend at Sunset-Gower Studios.  The singer/songwriter/guitarist and member of the once iconoclastic rock group BON JOVI along with fellow designer, Lund, foray into the event with rave reviews and much success.  Whether it was handling photojournalists’ constant prodding over capturing their photo to handling the media’s probing questions, Sambora and Lund stood together with class and grace as the red carpet was their oyster. 

The evening began with a media frenzy of celebrity introductions.  Celebrities who attended the event included:  Charlotte Ross ( NYPD BLUE), Tatyana Ali ( FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR/YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS), Brenda Strong ( DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES), Natasha Henstridge ( SPECIES), Jodie Sweetin ( FULL HOUSE), Playboy Bunny Bridget Marquardt and Naturi Naughton (Singer of 3LW) just to name a few.  But, the one star of the evening that stole the spotlight was Sambora and Heather Locklear’s 13-year old daughter, Ava Sambora, who was tapped as a model for the show.

Guests got the chance to enjoy the open bar and an illustrious social setting that had wall illuminations of all the sponsors for the event such as KTLA 5 (who did a live-stream of reporting), Domenico Winery, Crustacean, 360 Vodka, Planet Salon, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and gift bags courtesy of Make Love Not Trash.

 

As guests, photojournalists and fashion aficionados made their way to the runway area, Mistress of Ceremonies Mikey Hoffman (LA Gallery Owner who served as host of the three day weekend) thanked sponsors and everyone for attending the star-studded event.  As the lights went down with nothing but the illuminating signature label WHITE TRASH BEAUTIFUL lit up in the background, models began to stomp the runway showcasing designs that everyone was buzzing about. 

Each design that graced the runway exhibited the element of spring time.  The designs ranged from baby doll dresses, gowns, long-sleeve draped flowing tops and midriffs.  Lund and Sambora’s line uses soft, rich colors on clothes that are edgy for the nightlife party girl in Los Angeles dancing the night away and sexy for the New York social club woman who wants to be seen and create a stir. 

The designs are youthful and daring in construction and each garment is accented beautifully with simplistic jewelry to make each outfit pop.  As each design made its runway debut, the crowd responded with eager anticipation over seeing what was going to come out next; even Ava graced the runway wearing her father’s latest creation.

 

Overall, WHITE TRASH BEAUTIFUL made an impressive runway debut that put Lund and Sambora’s brand out in the fashion world and created a stirring buzz from the red carpet arrival down to the last bow from rock star and designer.  What makes this show stand out from the rest of the shows is that the models brought their energy and their A-game from start to finish.  If their spring line is any indication as to what to expect for the trendy woman, then hope will spring eternal.
