Monarchy Fall Collection Premiered at Element

Hollywood socialites came out last Thursday for the runway premiere of Fred Segal Monarchy's Fall Collection at Element in East Hollywood. The night started out with some of this summer's hottest dance hits over cold beverages and posh company. The crowd ranged from fashion aficionados, photographers, and models to some notable celebrities who came to support Monarchy's collection. Hosted by Desperate Housewives' Shawn Pyfrom and Ryan Carnes, other guests included Laura Prepon (That 70's Show), Chris Masteron (Malcolm in the Middle), Brian Drolet, Jordan Eubanks with the cast of The Hills, actress and singer Samantha Mumba, and Kalvin Brown (Everybody Hates Chris). The club provided a great setting for Monarchy's rock n' roll attitude with its dark atmosphere and plush leather seating. People gathered around the stage as well, which was designed to look like it was a day in London with an Astroturf runway and a red phonebooth. The bright greens, reds, and city backdrop lured guests in to check out Monarchy's newest additions to its already edgy collection.

Models streamed up and down the runway as bands such as the Cult, Bloc Party, and Franz Ferninand blasted through the speakers. Draped in distressed hoodies, hot denim, and a plethora of different tees, blazers, slacks, and track jackets; the models came out with teased hair, smeared eyeliner and an attitude that oozed rock n' roll. Monarchy showcased a number of unique graphics on soft, earth tones and neutrals in the fall collection, all the while making casual wear look high fashion. Some of the night's hottest looks arrived onstage in layers, and lots of them. Scarves, big boots, neck ties, and anything with a print of the British flag were necessary additions to this school of rock look. Perhaps the most memorable part of the show was when one of the models came out in a city dweller's black peacoat, only to strip down to a tailored white shirt, red panties, and knee-high boots with a British flag design.

Monarchy offers so many styles in this fall's collection that mixing and matching length, color, and pattern is a totally acceptable way to get noticed. Perhaps the most refreshing aspect of this year's fall collection is that there is nothing too flashy, it is how it is worn that grabs attention. The layers of simple colors and accessories made these outifts stand out without using bright colors or patterns. Let's face it, the "I didn't even try to get ready" look is a staple of this year's fashion scene and Monarchy does it well. 

Perhaps that is how Monarchy is making such an impression on people such as Tommy Lee, Rob Lowe, Jon Bon Jovi, Nick Lachey, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne, Tori Spelling, Jamie Kennedy, Good Charlotte and Adrien Grenier. These a-list celebrities have all been spotted wearing the relaxed tees and denim around town.

The whole audience participated in the show, cheering loud as each new look hit the stage. People were still pouring into Element to see the newest looks halfway through the show. Guests eagerly jumped from chair to chair to get a better glimpse of the stage while moving to the sound of Justin Timberlake's 'Sexyback' as the models kept it coming with short skirts accompanied by long shirts and jackets.  Element's guests all came with their own unique take on fashion, all the while getting immersed into the diverse options the line had to offer. The crowd was threaded in everything from retro, indie garb to some of the hottest looks in urban design, meanwhile bartenders dressed in classic, all black attire. Element was packed to its fullest capacity as people lined the backlit brick walls, crowded on a balcony that rested above a communal seating area, and remained seated at the sleek bars that resided against opposite ends of the club. The ecclectic group of guests came together with a common appreciation for the universal look that Monarchy offers and an excuse to dance and socialize into the early morning.

By the end of the show, it was apparant that everyone was reveling in some new ideas on what to do with those old hoodies that were only meant to be seen at the gym. Fred Segal's Monarchy does not fail to take the new relaxed approach to looking chic and run with it. Looking good no longer requires looking totally put together, it is more about a little imagination, confidence, and some hot jeans and a tee shirt.
