Life and Death Spring 2007 Collection by Phillipe Naouri & Alexandre Caugant

Kimono Cool

***Life and Death set the mood  before the show began with a wonderful violin duo performed while the guests were seated. I absolutely adored this line. The show consisted of tank tops, T-shirts, leggings, jeans, leather and an abundance of black & purple, blue with silver, pink & black and yellows with greens. Then there was metallic paint, glitter and coolness. The line included heaps of painted clothes, combining Cynthia Tello's hand drawn watercolors, with the color palettes, the sense of style and the constant study of fashion all over the world and the design from Philippe Naouri and Alexandre Caugant have inspired this collection. There was a lot of layering of texture through print or clothes and touches of orchid and silver on fantastic leather pants.

Leather and a sheath

Trendy styles

Life and Death is both a menswear and womens wear line and also includes items for children that are just unbelievably adorable. The show had hip looking models with big hair, trippy makeup, leaves adorning their hair and sometimes long braids wrapped around the hairline while the rest of hair was long and straight.

Great men's line

Love these looks

Even flowers a purse and necklaces can't make these guys look less macho

Flowing gowns

Leather was a major component and everything just worked. The leggings were painted too and many of the items were adorned with rhinestones and/or metallic paint. It's so different and they really came through. No actually they surpassed my expectations. It's a distinctive line that is oh so fun, while being casual and easy to wear.

Youthful and fresh

Terrific skirt look

Naouri and Caugant include a heavy use of airbrushing on most of their clothes. Being an airbrush artist myself, beautiful airbrushing is something I just love. The painted images generally were natural with images of birds, butterflies, and shells. The touches of glitter were put in just the right places. The line featured dark clothes with vibrant prints, but while the clothes had a trendy, punk appeal, I can see myself wearing these clothes a lot.

Sexy men!

Soft and cute and I love the hooded jackets

Layered tees, or sweats with cut off sleeves and collars had a ragged, jagged feel, but one that in this case really worked. Metallic paint on black was accentuated with metal or silver hanging and dangling things and completed some of the looks. Some of the ensembles were accessorized with canvas hi-top shoes or biker boots while some wore simple ballet flats. The pieces were then accentuated with silk scarves around the neck or around the waist.

Coolest t's

Shorts make a statement

The clothes were fitted with tight bottoms, jeans or knee-length skirts with leggings.. They also showed dyed cotton dresses, silk nighties and lots of dresses pulled in at the waist. They also showed long dresses.

Could they be any cuter?

The short and long of it

One of my favorite standout pieces was the zippered black pants with zippers by the sides of the ankles.. Everyone clapped when the black and silver kimono robe top appeared. I'm a big fan of the kimono look and I loved the women's with ared bow that was then layered and had leggings underneath. But it's hard to say which items I liked the best, because I can see myself in a lot of the clothes in this line. The finale of the lap show was when a male model came out holding baby in a white shirt with glittery butterfly wings, the audience broke out in applause. Too cute!
