Fashion for Life 2008 Raise Money for Friendly House – Honoring Retailer Lisa Kline to receive 2008 Vision Award

Amber Valletta, Lisa Rinna, Jillian Reynolds, retailer Lisa Kline, and other fashionable Angelenos gathered at Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills on Sunday, May 18 for Fashion For Life 2008. The showcase and celebration of Los Angeles fashion raises awareness and funds for Friendly House, one of Los Angeles’ oldest and most valued community alcohol and drug recovery organizations for women.

Since its inception three years ago, Fashion For Life has showcased a “who’s who” of LA design talent, including Miss Davenporte, Mike & Chris, Avita, Corey Lynn Calter, Susana Mercedes, J Mary, Elisa Ferare, Pamela Barish, Society for Rational Dress, Cosa Nostra, Howe, Robert Rodriguez, Suss Design, Single, Shay Todd, and Jak and Rae. This year’s dynamic fashion show will feature menswear by Marc Callo, glamorous party looks from Kevan Hall and Elsie Katz Couture, So Cal staples from Robert Rodriguez, Diane Samandi, Rory Beca and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, and the highly anticipated debut of Paige Black Label, a refined collection of tailored skirts, trousers, dresses, vests and jackets by Paige Adams-Gellar of Paige Premium Denim.

Each year, Fashion For Life also honors a local luminary who has contributed significantly to the fashion community. This year’s recipient of the 2008 Vision Award is Southern California retail maven Lisa Kline, whose dreams, dedication and hard work have helped women worldwide discover and define the quintessential looks befitting the LA lifestyle.

Being born and raised in this town, it is such a privilege to give back to the community,” said Kline, “and quite an honor to receive the Vision Award."

Addiction is a chronic, but treatable, brain disorder. People who are addicted cannot control their need for alcohol or other drugs, even in the face of negative health, social or legal consequences. This lack of control is the result of alcohol/drug-induced changes in the brain. Those changes, in turn, cause behavior changes. Many people think that drug abuse is something you can kick on your own. Friendly House understands that help and guidance is needed to help women get back on their feet to live a productive life in their community.  That's why their success rate is over 72% compared to the average hospital rate of 35%.

Thank you Friendly House and those who contribute to this wonderful charity to help bring back women to their fullest potential.
