While traveling the globe watching her parents work on scientific experiments, CoCo, of CoCo Kliks was mastering the science of fashion. After graduating from The Academy of Art College in San Francisco and winning many awards for her creativity including the Lorber Fashion Design Contest which afforded her to study couture in Paris, France for many years, this up and coming designer has hit the ground running and had not slowed down since.
Since releasing her first line in fall 2000, her hip trendy designs have been in high demand by many "A" list celebrities. Her fashions have been worn by cast members of the hit TV. shows "Friends" and "Will and Grace" to name a few. Magazines like Rolling Stone and Nylon have also been home to her funky fashion statements. Coco believes that couture is not just for beautiful gowns and dresses from upscale fashion houses, but couture can be expressed in something as simple as a t-shirt. Using the laid back California vibe as her base, she wanted to bring a fresh fashion perspective to the "jeans and t-shirt" crowd. Her spring 2005 collection demonstrates that simplicity can be elegant.
The 50's, ah yes! 3-D movies, American bandstand, and James "Hubbba-Hubba" Dean. Coco with this hot new collection wanted to jar the memory of those old enough to remember and create new memories for those not yet born to taste "The innocence of the 50's"; but her focus is not on poodle skirts, sweater sets, and sock hops folks, she is thinking of warm summer nights, the boardwalk, hot popcorn, ice cold lemonade, and drive in theatres. Through this colorful fashion line, CoCo asks you to close your eyes and get as she puts it, "a whiff of teen spirit breezing across the boardwalk in anticipation of prom night". Oh the delightfully intoxicating nostalgia of this refreshing collection.
In this collection you get a blend of "fifties feminine" with a 21st century attitude. With teased hair and bright red lipstick, and a Rock-a-Billy attitude the models confidently sported CoCo's bustiers, summer dresses, hot pants, Capri pants matched with white shirts and chiffon neck scarves, bermuda shorts and prom dresses.
Coco Kliks collection gives you the feel of being at a hometown state fair or amusement park. Pieces in this collection were given catchy state and landmark names like The Kansas Dress, The Texas Dress, The Georgia Wrap Top matched with a pair of New York Wide Leg Pants, Coney Island Hot Pants, Nebraska Bustier and the Missouri Circle Skirt to name a few. Her pieces make it easy to be versatile and create a wide range of looks and styles. She graces her garments in an array of imported wool, textured cottons and her signature hand made distressed embellishments. The pastel colored fabrics in this collection will remind you of the tasty cotton candy you enjoyed as a child, with a collection that truly does look good enough to eat!
