Fresh Faces in Fashion" event has an unparalleled track record for showcasing tomorrow's top designers.
This year’s womenswear designers are:
LAEKEN -
Laeken offers a cool and casual feel with sexy silhouettes inspired by Tokyo street style and Australian sportswear translated to multi-dimensional pieces of comfortable, contemporary chic with subtle urban sensibilities for effortless day-to-night dressing. Spring 2009 presents a mélange of saccharine color with sport-inspired contours, combining tie-dyed silks, Japanese cotton mesh and bright plaid; pink, ice blue, lime, teal and grey palettes infuse pieces with a playful femininity that is both fun and wearable; hardware embellishments and inventive tailoring add a high-minded attention to detail.
Mallyce Miller discovers through travel, drinking in the colors, patterns, textures and traditions both foreign and domestic.
Maxine Dillon –
Maxine Dillon brings a welcome breath of fresh air to the Los Angeles fashion scene. She is inspired by independent women who use their personal style as a means to communicate their thoughts and interests. Her collections are abstracted by blending femine fabrics and modern silhouettes with a contrasting masculine edge.
Nanushka –
Nanushka was established in early 2005 by Hungarian designer
Sandra Sandor, with today’s women active lifestyle in mind.
Nanushka’s designs focus not in fashion trends, but in long lasting silhouettes, comfort and function ability combined with a playfulness attitude.
PEONIE –
PEONIE focuses on the sophistication of swimware, offering designs which feature unique laces, distinctive embellishments and refined accessories. The mission is to create beautiful designs for the woman who wants to feel sexy, confident and comfortable at the beach. The design team has traveled around the world visiting the most popular beaches and the most remote islands in search of what makes the perfect swimsuit.
Quail –
Quail: A term used in 1960’s hipster slang to describe a woman or girl. After merely two years of building her dream into a reality,
Quail founder and designer,
Michelle Williams has disregarded boundaries and created somewhat of her own underground empire. As a native Californian with family roots in Vietnam, Williams has always paved the way for a different point of view. The concept behind
Quail is a direct result of
Williams desire to create beautiful clothes for the fashion forward girl at an affordable price. Williams is constantly finding inspiration for her line from rulers of the grunge era to old images of pin-up girls from the 1940’s and 50’s.
WAYF - A
WAYF piece makes a statement for the smart, fashion conscious individual. With a simple yet high-style aesthetic, wearing
WAYF should be an expression of personal creativity and style. More than three years since launching
WAYF,
Meredith Fisher continues to design a collection that is consistently fresh and fashion forward. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky,
Meredith’s designs were picked up by Los Angeles boutique
Satine while still in high school. After her one of a kind pieces caught the eye of fashion insiders such as
Rachel Zoe, the
Traina sisters and the
Olsens, Meredith got the push she needed to launch her own collection.

K.Z.O –
K.Z.O is a menswear collection representative of a global consciousness. It seeks to capture the same zeal and excitement as the lightning fast connectivity of today’s Global Community.
K.Z.O is an embodiment of the stimulating creative energy and exhilaration found within the world in which we live. It is designed with a cinematic mindset and an emphasis on art, travel, film, soundtrack, and multimedia.
K.Z.O is designed and creative directed in Southern California by
Joel K, with design influence by its Japanese counterparts in Tokyo and Osaka.
Wayne Hadley –
Wayne Joffe of
Wayne Hadly started designing clothes to fill the void in the marketplace of high-quality, well-tailored menswear with a modern edge. Wayne Hadly was founded in late 2006, with an overwhelming positive response from celebrities, fashion editors and international buyers. To date,
Joffe is best known for his uncompromising attention to detail and sharp silhouettes, with each garment made to order and expertly hand finished in Los Angeles.
Joffe personally selects all of his fabric from France, Italy, Japan, and South America; and utilizes the most intricate techniques so each piece can withstand the test of time. Not one to follow trends, but create them, the Wayne Hadly collection is refined each season with influences and inspiration from travel, music, art and nature.
The evening was a success show casing the upcoming designers; the audience was pleased, clapping and cheering as the new lines were walked down the runway. The fashion gurus of tomorrow liked what they’ve seen and could not stop raving about the collections the rest of the evening.
