Style LA Swim and Resort Fashion Show - Exotic Styles for an Endless Summer

Pool side at the Viceroy Hotel

Santa Monica, Ca July 31st - The changing seasons are seemingly irrelevant to inhabitants of sunny California. As a native southern California gal, I define winter weather as anything below 65 degrees! Thus, while a fashion show debuting new lines of swim wear  in the latter part of the summer may seem a bit odd in other locales, it fits perfectly with California style. TMG International took advantage of California's endless summer in order to host the annual Style LA Swim & Resort fashion show benefitting Stop the Violence, Face the Music. This summer-chic soiree was held at the luxe Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, Ca.

Stop the Violence, Face the Music is a nonprofit organization that aims to counteract negative influence on youth by offering positive solutions and alternatives by providing educational materials and programs, counseling services, music, videos, and public education awareness campaigns.

In support of Stop the Violence, Face the Music, eight summer-loving designers showcased their sumptuous swim wear including: Gottex, Gideon Oberson, Vitamin A, Perry Ellis Swim, 575 Denim, Cordelia, Aqualara, and Cyn & Luca.

Cyn & Luca

The already contemporary chic pool area of the Viceroy was transformed into a ritzy island resort for an evening of fashion and strawberry Leblon caipirinhas. With the palm trees gently swaying in the ocean breeze and tropical tunes playing overhead, it was hard to imagine that we were just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

E! Entertainment's Giuliana DePandi and Jason Kennedy hosted the vacation-ready fashion show. The swimsuits took center stage as models strutted down an illuminating, white catwalk that hovered above the pool. Swimsuits ranged from brightly colored, 70s inspired looks to modern fall colors intermixed with animal prints. There was something for every personality, body shape, and personal style. Barely-there Brazilian cuts to chic sheer cover-ups, these eight designers took covered the summer style spectrum.

Cyn and Lucca played with textures and seasons: a cream colored knit one-piece, accentuated with an lush fur cropped vest and large aviator sunglasses was a perfect blend of laid-back California and fashion-forward New York.

Perry Ellis channeled exotic, far away resort locales in their looks. A white sheer tunic with navy blue intricate embroidery detailing on the neckline connected by a silver circle medallion received an instant applause from the audience. With alluring animal prints and chic chunky jewelry made from natural materials like wood and gold, Perry Ellis whisked us away into an untamed island resort.

Cordelia

Not every designer sent bikini clad models down the floating runway. 575 Denim infused their designs with the wild, fun, and spontaneous spirit associated with the freedom of vacations! Shirtless men adorned in distressed, straight-legged jeans, antiquated silver medallions, rugged boots, and, of course, their guitars brought a soaring heat wave to our little fashion resort!

Portofino; Gottex

As we reach the end of summer and gear up for fall, Gottex, Gideon Oberson, Vitamin A, Perry Ellis Swim, 575 Denim, Cordelia, Aqualara, and Cyn & Luca remind us that summer is not over just yet! Here in California, we still have the weekends to throw on our new multi-colored Gottix bikini and head to the pool or the beach. Don't live in a year-round warm weather climate? Don't fret as the styles are for both 2006 and 2007 spring and summer seasons.
