I was excited when the “little brown box” from
Shirley of Hollywood arrived in the mail. When I opened it and examined the contents I was pleasantly surprised. First, the costumes looked just like the pictures, no unpleasant surprises or trying to figure out what “this is supposed to be.” Instead, I found garments that were exactly what was described on the website and in the catalog. Well, actually not exactly. The truth is that they looked better and were of a higher quality of materials and craftsmanship than I had anticipated.

When it comes to costumes the average manufacturer seems to skimp, using cheaper materials and shoddy workmanship. Not Shirley of Hollywood, their choice of fabrics was lovely and really complimented the design of the costumes. Another thing that I was pleasantly surprised with is the fit. Obviously we ordered without trying anything on and when it came time to try our costumes on, the sizing was accurate and the fit was exact. As an interesting experiment, I had a couple of the girls in the office with very different body shapes try on the same costume and it fit each of them, extremely well and looked good on both of them. I was very pleased with the selections we made and the quality of the pieces.

Another thing that I was really excited by was the wide range of choices that were available. The catalog was extensive and filled full of really cute, sexy and fun costumes. There seemed to be something that would appeal to everyone inside of it. Now, if that wasn’t good enough Shirley of Hollywood takes it one step further and makes many of the styles available in Plus Sizes. If any of you are plus sizes, you’ll understand how difficult it can be to find cute and fun costumes, but sexy ones as well. This is a company that knows women have curves and designs their apparel like they love them for that fact.

Our costumes were quite a spectacle - as funny as it sounded, our costumes really did make us feel like royalty. Lots of party goers bowed down to pay their respect to us as King and Queen. One gentleman was dressed as a knight and, jokingly, told us that he would ensure our safety in our kingdom -- their were many similar comments all night.
You won’t find ordinary lingerie at

If your style is net stockings, you'll find fishnet, fence net, body stockings, thigh-high stockings with lace, ruffles, and bows and the captivating spider webbing.
