The 37-year-old Dutch designer Percy Irausquin launched on the 17th of September 2007 his first own couture collection under the name Atelier PRC during a suggestive catwalk-show in the beautiful setting of the Amsterdam church De Duif. It is his first show since this year fracture with his previous investor Steve Te Pas of Mochi Mochi, the man who is behind the jeans label Blue Blood.
Last June Percy Amsterdam store closed, because of the end of the cooperation with Te Pas and even his show at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week of July had to be cancelled. A very difficult moment for Percy who still cannot use his own name because of the current lawsuit against Te Pas. "As everything is settled, I will officially use again the Percy Irausquin name." Until that time he leads its prĂŞt-to-porter line under the label PRC Collection and the couture under the label Atelier PRC.
At the beginning of June indeed Pascal Zantman, owner of the Zantman Group, which produces Mart Visser couture too, proposed him a cooperation: Zantman takes care about the ready-to-wear line PRC Collection which was launched last January and Percy himself will follow the realization of the couture collection Atelier PRC.
Thanks to the financial support of L’Oreal Professional, KPN, Pr company So-PR, the monthly magazine Glossy, customers and friends Percy could then produce his first couture collection under the name Atelier PRC. The theme chosen for the collection is “Raison d’être”. Raison d’être is a haute couture composition of everything and everyone that inspires, and has inspired designer Percy Irausquin throughout his life.
The warm environment of his family, meaningful friendships without restrictions, the never ending passion and the feeling you get while watching tropical birds dance under a sunny sky… Memories of his youth, such as the tropical environment he grew up in, melt together with passionate tribute to his Spanish heritage and his homeland Aruba.
While enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the Raison d’être collection, the fashion connoisseur can feel Irausquin’s heart and soul reflecting in each dress. From bright yellow to marvelous peach and passionate rouge, in Raison d’être all that is pure and sacred to Percy Irausquin comes together. Soft details, each well thought over and composed with love, reflect the reason of being, the reason of existence.
A happy and joyful existence, clearly visible through glamorous butterflies dancing on sexy sophisticated fabrics and designs that will instantly remind you a tropical gardens by night. Percy designed 23 colorful couture dresses, made of elegant materials as silk, chiffon and crepe. Feminine and sexy dress in the typical Percy style. The music of a live flamenco trio performing from the balcony of the church organ created a suggestive atmosphere for the catwalk. The show started with a small accident…
The first skinny model walked in a strapless black dress which fell down a bit and we could all see her breast. On the Spanish sound the show continued and one after the other we could admire the collection of evening gowns which made the models appear like princess, movie stars and divas on the catwalk. Creations that seemed to come out from a romantic movie, perfect for a gala, a “grand ball” and an “opera première”. At the end a standing ovation and a long, warm and strong applause, the longest I have seen in Amsterdam fashion shows this year. And an emotional Percy holding the model wearing his bride creation was probably enjoying that a lot after the events of the previous months.
