Smashbox Studios was packed with eager audience members waiting for the show to begin. While the lights dimmed, pressure built up for
Monarchy’s always spectacular presentation to take way. As the line has done many times before, the showcase started off with a bang, remarkably fusing Russian accents into a metropolitan motif.
Monarchy consistently lives up to its regal name, never ceasing to bring wearable, urban couture to the runway.

Women's wear with an eclectic twist

The Fall 2008 collection was centered on “
The Streets of Scandinavia”, bringing forth a modern line with an exotic, eclectic background. Visually tantalizing, each model could be pictured strutting down the streets on a cold, winter day.
Monarchy designed a collection meant to bridge the gap between street wear and couture by incorporating urban, diverse elements into their final image. The first model walked out sporting a deep gray, tailored jumpsuit accented by woolen earmuffs and thick, black glasses. Every look started off classically urban, but was complimented by eccentric accessories like chunky scarves, Russian-inspired fur caps, and assorted headgear.

Scarves, hats, and totes stole the show

As the show went on, women’s and men’s wear were showcased, cohesively combining a sense of city, street gear with a completely foreign twist. One male model wore a distressed, fitted leather coat, boots, and sleek jeans while the next outfit included a large fur cap and glasses. Many men even clutched leather handbags as they made their way to the end of the runway. The collection merged the need for real winter wear in Russia with a savvy, New York sense of fitted fashion.

Urban city gear was jazzed up with added accessories

The collection encompassed fitted coats, complimentary vests, dark denim jeans, and chunky scarves for both men and women alike.
Monarchy’s impressive ability to design for both sexes in an urban, fast-paced setting shone through immensely with each new look. A neutral color pallet only brought out the actual design of the clothing that much more, with handmade denim and distressed leather playing a large part in the compilation.

Splashes of bright red, deep auburns, and forest green accessories popped amongst a natural colored backsplash. One look included dark jeans with a black coat, but was accentuated by a red, checkered scarf for added effect.

Women’s wear took on a similar approach to city couture, with a slightly more effeminate appearance. Models confidently kept up with the men wearing tightly fitted and distressed denim, polished leather zip-up jackets, and detailed wool sweaters. Each piece was well accessorized with glasses, bright scarves, and trendy belts. Thick, black tights worn with boots were merged with auburn wool cloaks and hooded, sweater dresses.

Always bringing an innovative, modern approach to urban street wear,
Monarchy continuously adds to its' immense collection of ready to wear city styles. Brilliantly fusing Scandinavian winter wear into American fall designs, brought out an eccentric, contemporary flair to every look this season. From polished overcoats to chunky fur hats,
Monarchy never forgets how to awe an audience and hit the fashion world with progressive metropolitan flair.
