Jeans and a t-shirt, so simple. Well, simple in the hands of most, in the hands of Hanna Rochelle Schmieder they are so much more. Hanna has created the "Lyric Culture" clothing line, and every item in her line is far more than something you just wear.

These clothes are more than clothes, more than something to put on your body. They are your chance to wear a part of history, to wear a part of a songwriters mind and soul, the chance to express yourself through the words of some of the greatest lyrics that have ever been written.

What you will find is more than some lyrics tossed on some cloth. Hanna puts a great deal of thought into what lyrics to choose and after picking the lyrics, she does research to find out what the writer was trying to express and what the meaning behind the lyrics was. This allows Hanna to design the clothes using the color combinations and the presentation that will express each individual lyric.

"I feel like I'm the keeper of the greatest words in the world," Hanna said. "This is a cool way to get songwriters lyrics out there and also create a high end product that is artistic."
The debut collection of shirts and jeans that were released is named the "Lyric Culture Revolution," which is dedicated to the music from late 60's through the early 70's.

The collection, having the name "Revolution," is obviously headlined by the Beatles, but also has several other great artists, including; David Bowie, America, Lynard Skynard, Marvin Gaye. Clearly Hanna has found some of the great creative minds of that generation and allows her to choose some meaningful lyrics.
The line has a cross-generational appeal. It definitely has some nostalgia for people who lived in that time or for people who grew up listening to any of these artists, but for people who aren't as familiar with all of these songs, the rock n' roll, stylish, hip, party look will certainly appeal to the younger crowd. Hanna pointed out the great thing about people buying this line just on looks will hopefully entice them to find out more about the lyrics they are wearing and will create some new fans of that music.

The next Lyric Culture line will be the "Fever Collection," which will feature disco era themed lyrics form the 70's. Hanna also is looking at doing entire lines based on specific artists and beyond that, well it could be anything. Hanna has partnered with some of the largest music companies in the world and has allowed her to obtain licenses to some of the great lyrics in the history of music.
Lyric Culture is going to be heard from in different avenues as well in the future, as Hanna recently entered into a licensing agreement with FemantleMedia, co-producer and licensor for American Idol. Hanna is going to create a lyric-inspired American Idol branded apparel line that will focus on the contemporary juniors and girls market and expand into other areas, including children's wear.
