Fashion week is always an occasion to watch our timeless favorites put on a show, but pull out those little black fashion notebooks there is a new designer on the block.  She is young, she is collected and she is wise.  She is Lyn Devon, and is quickly moving to the top of the fashion world.

From the outside looking in, everything looked perfect at Devon's Spring 2007 show held at the Altman Building in Chelsea.  As the music revved up each model was in perfect timing, each garment sewn flawlessly and each look playing perfectly off the other.  For a designer as young as Devon whose fashion belt is still accumulating notches, it seemed impossible for it all to go off without a hitch.  However, I had a chance to sit down and speak with Devon before the show and the calm that walked across the runway was just as present backstage.  Wearing her grandmother's jewelry and a brown dress of her own design, she spoke with ease, elegance and a peace that left no one mistaken; she was born to do this.  'I always knew what I was going to do, my passion just took me through a few different paths,' Devon said of attending Brown University and majoring in art history before moving into fashion.

The collection, which Devon described as, youthful, fluid, free-spirited and romantic, had a little bit of everything.  A black strapless dress was the perfect twist on a classic.  Longer, wispy dresses and girly bubble dresses were perfect for casual chique or more elegant attire.  Many of the looks were created from a nouveau stripe print that Devon herself created.  Well tailored pants and mini shorts were perfect icing on an already sweet cake. 

When it comes to designing a collection, all of the intricate and tedious details don't just fall into place.  It takes someone to seed them together in a way that enhances the vision.  For this collection, it was none other than Devon herself.  'I am a perfectionist so I have my hand in everything.  Every element is really significant.  The hair, the music, the shoes, everything,' Devon said.

What a wonderful job she did.  Every element hit the right note.  Big baubles of pearl and diamond bundles added flair to the exquisite pieces in the form of necklaces and bracelets. The colors were traditional with blacks and whites, but rusty oranges and creamy green's opened up the spring color palette.  It probably didn't hurt that Devon learned from some of the best in the business.  She worked with Zac Posen and Ralph Lauren before spreading her fashion roots out on her own.

With everything looking so effortless, was the road to the runway really that easy?

'The challenge is always to edit.  You design 100 pieces for example and then you show 22.  The struggle the past two weeks has been what to show, what not to show,' Devon said.

With a successful collection completed, it's time to relax, right?  Not for this spirited designer.

'I am starting on fall.  I am going to start sketching.  I love the creative moments, the initial moments of finding your muse for the next collection,' Devon said.

On that note, I can't wait!
