Lourdes Fall 2006 Collection - A Fairy Tale of Fashion

Designer Patricia Fistes-Adams

Patricia Fistes-Adams, creator of Lourdes, kicked off the first full day of fashion at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Monday, March 20. In order to convey her inspiration, "royalty," Fistes-Adams created a delightful dreamland of fashion. 'I believe that we are all part of a royal family, we all have royal lineage,' she explained after the show. Her vision was aptly apparent throughout her collection. Towering tiaras, fabulously feathered angel wings, and radiant ruffles were seen in every look.

The show opened with two models, or prima ballerinas, dancing down the bright pink runway wearing light pink pointe shoes. White tank-tops with 'Lourdes' spelled across the front in swarovski crystals were paired with succulent satin tu-tus. Lourdes reinterprets the historical dress by adding seemingly endless layers of ruffles and long, voluptuous trains.

And what wonderous world would be complete without clowns? Fistes-Adams' clowns, however, were beatific beings with hearts painted across the face, glitter glistening on the cheeks, and high asymmetrical necklines framing the face.

During the second segment of the show, Fistes-Adams introduced her new venture: children's wear. For little cherubs everywhere, Fistes-Adams created a fairy-tale flower field. She showcased looks for little girls with the help of a quartet of baby ballerina princesses. The child models bashfully walked down the runway with delicate crystal-adorned septers in their hands and angelic smiles on their faces.  The dainty dresses, with voluminous skirts of tulle and charmeuse, were completely covered with flowers in all the colors of a radiant rainbow.

It's no wonder that Fistes-Adams extended this fantastical world to children, for she is expecting a little ballerina princess of her own! 'Designing is a venting process for me. It's a creative arena.' she cheerfully explained.

The highlight of the show, and Fistes-Adams' personal favorite, was a gorgeous gown bejeweled in butterflies. The form-fitting bodice in white, scrumptious satin with a deep plunging neckline was complimented with a far-reaching ruffled train enveloped in brightly-colored butterflies. As the model walked, the butterflies seemed to flutter euphorically around her legs. The audience enthusiastically applauded for the breathtaking butterflies that inhabited this magical garden.

For fall 2006, Fistes-Adams remains loyal to her signature style of creating a clothing line that advocates for an intelligent, sophisticated, and royal lifestyle. Her powerful, adventurous, and benevolent spirit transcends to every individual look in her line. She invents a wonderful world where women, men, and children are brought together by her artistic and influential vision. She undoubtedly appeals to the childhood ballerina princess in all of us!
