Gathering for an evening of divine elegance and beauty, top stylists, fashionistas, celebrities, socialites, and couture aficionados alike enjoyed a gorgeous showcase of opulent fashion at the lovely Chateau Marmont Hotel in West Hollywood.  Built in 1927 and modeled after the Château d'Amboise in France's Loire Valley, the hotel’s historical presence, vivid character, serene ambiance and beauty held the perfect backdrop for the Dye4Gething American debut. 

As stunning models previewed a visual showcase featuring a few of the collection’s couture gowns, guests enjoyed delectable hors d’oeuvres and fine wine while mingling poolside at the show’s pre-reception.  A beautiful setting for a beautiful collection, the lush greenery and rustic stone walkway added to the teal-blue glimmer of the pool, giving way to a peaceful garden-like scene.  Among several recognizable attendees, Jim Goldstein, an international style icon and certainly a permanent fixture in the global fashion circuit, was seated front and center for the show.  Guests took their seats as an eclectic yet romantic array of runway music provided the soundtrack to the presentation.

One by one, each model embodied confidence and poise with a sense of subtle sensuality.  Within the collection were several Grecian goddess-inspired gowns with delicate gold and jeweled accents.  Like a canvas being painted with alluring watercolor hues, each dress glided out across the floor and added something unique to the collective theme of the show.  Romantic and avant-garde defined the tone of the collection.  It was fresh, full of color, and rich in every sense of the word.  Each model was draped in Van Cleef & Arpels jewels, the perfect accessory to bring out the lavish splendor of each look.  Fine silks from organza to chiffon, Crepe De Chine gowns, impeccable hand-sewn detail and elegant fabric draping brought the collection to a heightened level of luxury – a true depiction of couture artistry.  A couple of the pieces even flaunted hand-painted artwork by famed artist Daniel Maltzman. 

Footwear by Terry de Havilland and vintage Linda Farrow sunglasses added to the contemporary style and youthful aesthetic of the collection.  Accenting a few of the gowns were fabulously rich, extravagant hand-made jeweled headpieces created by the lovely, talented Louis Mariette of London.  All in all, the collection was simply magical.  The angelic bodies that moved ever so perfectly across the runway illustrated beautifully the flowing nature and movement of each garment. Every piece seemed to tell a story, a love story.  Each had its own individual personality, which was exuded through each model.  A fun mix of free-flowing floor-length gowns, plunging neck lines, gorgeous backs, and a few flirty short dresses made for a flawless, fabulous show that displayed an impressive range of talent. 

Michael Dye and Debbie Gething, two incredibly innovative and highly respected designers, joined in partnership a year ago to form the Dye4Gething brand.   Ms. Gething draws from over seven years of experience in couture design, while Mr. Dye’s background includes a long list of notable projects as one of Europe’s top stylists.  Throughout their show, this unique blend of talent proved to be a true success.  Dye4Gething’s creative take on classic lines and shapes paired with a hint of whimsical and provocative characteristics, glorious fabrics, and an unparalleled attention to detail have certainly paid off.  Radiant and full of life, the Dye4Gething Spring 2009 Collection is beauty personified, nothing short of exquisite.
