Shopping is not just an art; it's a social event' and nobody knows this better than legendary boutique owner Diane Merrick. Walk in the door and you will be greeted like an old friend and offered a refreshing drink as you browse Diane's wide collection of basic and unique pieces that make her store one of L.A.'s favorite one-stop-shops. Need ideas on what to wear? Diane and her style-savvy girls can help you mix and match outfits and accessories from staples like Vince, Juicy, C&C, LA Made, James Perse, Ya-Ya, Hanky Panky, Mary Green, Sechelles, Jeffrey Campbell, Cuba and more.
And now, after 35 years of dressing up celebrities, fashionistas and WeHo chic customers on Melrose Avenue, Diane and her famous maltipoo sidekick Doll Face have taken their winning formula to a new and bigger shop in the Beverly Heights district. The June 21st grand opening, hosted by Cheryl Hines, Jennie Garth, Nanci Ryder and Virginia Madsen, drew many Diane Merrick fans including Nicole Richie, HBO Big Love's Daveigh Chase and super model Keisha Whitaker. DJ/Singer/Songwriter Samantha Ronson set the groove as guests sampled hors d'oeuvres and sipped on Hint's naturally flavored bottled waters and Belvedere's signature Diane Merrick drink (one-and-a-half ounces of Belvedere vodka with lemonade and fresh mint leaves, shaken and poured).
While the new boutique has upped the ante with its hardwood floors, custom white moldings, chic chandeliers, mirrored chests, plush sofas and flat-screen TV (perfect for boyfriends and husbands to sit and watch the game while you shop), the focus is still on providing customers with the comfortable and friendly atmosphere that has made Diane Merrick a local fashion mainstay. 'We really care about what people feel,' says Diane. 'There are other stores that carry what we have but people come back to us because they feel comfortable. There's no push, no arrogance. At least, we hope not.' For the sake of customers who have yet to discover this L.A. gem, we hope so too.
