Top hats and swanky dresses added to the theme of noble rebellion
|
Christian Audigier, famed for his
Ed Hardy Collection, has done it yet again with the introduction of his latest line,
American Lord. Inspired by a break from the aristocracy, his vibrant and outrageous designs symbolize all that is radical. Besides the clothing, the actual show itself, held at the Main Stage of Smashbox Studios, was more revolutionary than anything else. After only four years of designing clothing, Christian Audigier has made a tremendous mark on the world of “
street couture,” showcasing bright and artistic styles for all ages. Branding nine collections, including Ed Hardy, Audigier has turned his name into an international superpower, with clothes to match. When describing his new line, Audigier explains that he “cannot imagine sitting quietly and properly in a stuffy manor having tea and crumpets without jumping on a table, turning up the volume and making some noise. My collection is the wild child of any aristocratic family.”

Plaid was jazzed up with rhinestones and studds

Expecting nothing more than a fabulous collection of vivacious designs, audience members got live music, an upbeat DJ, and even Great Danes prancing down the runway in style. Celebrities like
Heidi Klum and even the sweet
Miley Cyrus, watched in awe as the two red coated guards stood silently on the runway, rigid and stern, symbolizing an aristocratic society. Staying true to Audigier’s provocative motif, the lights dimmed and the once voiceless guards broke out into dance, joined by two even more rebellious ladies. As
Dave Stewart and his Rock Fabulous Orchestra commenced, the show kicked off with a spin on the everyday plaid and stripes.

Models held American flags to symbolize a break from aristocracy
|
Male and female models alike pranced down the runway holding the American flag, scantily clad in green top hats and flashy street couture. A simple plaid dress was spiced up with cut outs and patches, while striped scarves only added more flare to a simple suit jacket and jeans. Looks for all types were presented with trimmed minis, furry plaid boots, swanky studded overcoats, and chic purses to match. Christian Audigier’s rebellious and bold designs made waves with the audience, as he combined the attitude of a formal noble with that of insubordinate revolutionary.

Great Danes accompanied models down the grassy runway
|
To add just one more notch of energy,
Great Danes accompanied a few models on their walk down the grass covered runway, an ode to the massive hounds that watch over the actual American Lord’s palace. Herds of models showcased sweater vests, hoodies, and tanks with an edgy and vivacious twist on nobility. Later on, a group of boys and girls took center stage, strutting their stuff in Christian’s take on street couture children’s wear. The American Lord line was able to combine rebel with noble, defiantly presenting its energy with a fashion show more like a couture celebration than just your average showcase.
