Talented designer Araks Yeramyan wows us again with another fabulous collection. It was my pleasure to attend her fall 2007 presentation at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. A product of the world renowned Parsons School of Design, the talented designer honed her skills at Marc Jacobs and J Crew. Next, she created her sophisticated Araks fashion line which resulted in a good number of celebrity admirers. The admirers include Sofia Coppola, Amanda Peet, Michelle Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Judging from her fabulous work, I am not at all surprised that Araks has such a following. If you take a look at her latest fall collection, I am certain that you will be as impressed as I was.
Here we have a slate wool/cotton twill top, with a notched neckline, neatly paired with a matching skirt. I believe this sophisticated design would work best with a sassy pair of sandals or flats. The fit is loose enough to keep a lady looking cool on a crisp autumn day.
Jessian modeled a fabulous twill dress with crinkle chiffon detail. I especially like the cotton and silk lantern sleeves. It produces an interesting spin for the outfit. If I could place this creative number in a category, it would be colonial chic. Why? It reminds me of the beautiful costumes I saw while vacationing in Colonial Williamsburg. It appears as though those colonial styles evolved into a modern fashion statement. How timely since the United States is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. What a coincidence.
Daria modeled a classy and very feminine gooseberry silk jacquard top with a notched neckline. As you can see, burgundy is the perfect color for the wool/cotton double face jacket. The matching shorts add the finishing touch.
I love the tulle detail on this velvet camisole that Ava modeled. A lady could wear this to the hottest nightclub, a social gathering in the Hamptons, or during a romantic evening at a cozy restaurant.
Harjte strolled onto the catwalk modeling a fashionable night wool/cotton double face dress with beautiful and chic bell sleeves. What would I give to have this midnight blue creation in my closet? I would probably do almost anything. This is my favorite piece in the collection. In fact, the word spectacular would be an understatement.
Here is a cute silk jacquard shirt with an equally stylish praline camisole. The color of the camisole draws you in. Its lining gives it a shiny smooth finish. The combination of colors has just enough of a contrast to make it bold but it does not clash. In other words, the color combination looks perfect together.
I imagined there was a harmonious chorus of angels singing when I saw this fashionable vision. What word or phrase can I use to describe this classic design modeled by the angelic Ajuma? Stunning? Stylish? How about a stroke of genius? I love the fit because it is loose but sophisticated. The unique shade of green is simply remarkable. I should not forget to mention those killer boots. They go extremely well with the dress.
Bravo to Araks Yeramyan for a collection that I am sure will be a success.
