Eye Shadow's Little Helpers

Most of us wish our eye shadow would make it through

the day, let alone last into the evening without fading. Oil and sweat from around the brow bone break up the eye shadow making it look cakey, uneven, or even non-existent. Fortunately, now there are amazing products out there on the market that can help even the oiliest eyelids keep shadow in place all day long. Intrigued? Read on...

Products like Lancome's Ombre Perfecteur ($21), which comes in one versatile shade, and Laura Mercier's Eye Basics ($22) which come in six great shades, not only even out discolorations on the lid, but also help the shadow stay true to its original color. With these flesh toned "primers" you simply smooth the product over the bare lid, follow with your favorite eye shadow, and voila! Perfect lids for hours.

Now, this extra step may be too much "work" for some of you out there.

So for those who are always on the go and have no time for fuss, there is a great, easy to use cream shadow product that I have come across. "Eye Paints" by M.A.C. cosmetics ($15) come in both iridescent and matte shades and have truly amazing staying power. These little tubes hold incredibly pigmented color that goes on wonderfully smooth and stays in place once dry. They can be applied with either your fingertip, or a specially designed brush from M.A.C. With many colors and textures to choose from, these "Eye Paints" are perfect for a one step look that lasts.
