Miss Shannon Tackett
|
I hadn’t really heard too much about Brazilian Straightening before I met Shannon Tackett, but now I feel as though she’s a hair angel! I have mixed African-American/Caucasian-American hair, and have struggled with relaxers and flat irons, and hot combs my whole life. I’ve tried everything to tame my nappy roots in hopes to find something that would make managing my hair easier and faster. Before I discovered the Brazilian, my hair ritual consisted of at least two hours of work if I wanted a really straight doo. If I had to relax it, then that would add at least another half hour or so. Once relaxed, I had to moisturize it, let it air dry, then blow dry it as straight as possible before finally taking very small sections at a time and flattening them as much as possible with a flat iron. By the time I was finished, my arms were tired, and I started perspiring in my scalp from the heat of the iron. So in affect, the perspiration would make my hair want to curl a little. So frustrating!

What a mess my hair was

Aaahhhhh!!!

Then I met Shannon, and she told me all about the Brazilian Straightening System. Shannon, a seasoned, professional hair stylist of over 11 years, said that the Brazilian would last up to four months and the less I washed it, the longer it would stay. I was skeptical to say the least. Part of me had to believe her, but I knew my hair and I just knew it couldn’t be that big of a difference. Boy was I wrong! When I arrived at her salon, she greeted me with a smile, and made me feel at home by offering me something to drink. She let me know that the chemicals are very strong so much ventilation is needed. I didn’t think it could be so bad having spent some years in a beauty salon myself getting my hair done. But the smell was overwhelming and my eyes nose and throat were burning from the fumes. So make sure you bring some sun glasses to protect your eyes and have a hand towel or handkerchief with you to breathe through.

The Brazilian Hair Straightening is a mild chemical enriched with Keratin that straightens curly, wavy and frizzy hair. This technique is like no other in the ocean of hair straightening methods because it allows natural negative ions to break water molecule clusters onto micro-particles allowing the mixture to penetrate deep into the hair shaft so the hair is straightened without damaging the natural internal structure.

Yay! I can get my fingers through my hair

What a relief and the pictures STILL can't describe the feeling

Although it was harsh on my eyes and breathing, the treatment was very gentle on my scalp. Relaxers can burn the scalp and sting and tingle while waiting to be rinsed, but the Brazilian had none of those effects and that I was happy about. The process itself was so simple and only took about an hour and a half to two hours. The treatment was applied; blow dried out, and then followed up with a straightening iron. The results were amazing- to die for! My hair has never been so straight and manageable in my life. My fingers run right through without a single snag! I even slept overnight to wake and find that it was just as flawless as the minute I stepped out of Shannon’s chair! It can’t get any better than that!

Good for all types of hair

Shannon also provides Japanese Hair Straightening services as well as a newer version of the Japanese technique, but these treatments aren’t for everyone so you will want to go in for a consultation so that the best treatment can be chosen after an evaluation of your hair. Originally from Reno, Shannon moved to Los Angeles to pursue hair styling for commercials. She has done hair for TV shows such as The View - Hair for Desperate Housewives and stars on American Idol and also has clientele in Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Reno. If you need a house call for the Brazilian, she will gladly oblige for a minimal traveling fee. The Brazilian is available from $300 and up depending on your hair type and length because some hair needs double processing.
Shannon Tackett performs a myriad of services such as:
*Men's and Women's Haircuts
