Blue Lizard is the only sunscreen in the world with the patented Smart Bottle™ technology that changes the bottles' color to blue when exposed to harmful UVA rays! Knowing when it’s the best time to put on your sun block has never been easier and if there was ever a question, now
Blue Lizard has the answer. I was very impressed in learning about this new technology realizing that it would bring the importance of wearing sunscreen to plain view when someone saw the bottle turn blue- not to mention it’s a really cool thing to see!

I have to be honest, I haven’t always stayed on top of protecting my skin and the older I get the more I notice changes in my skin – it’s more sensitive and nothing is as resilient as it once was. I knew I needed to start using a quality sunscreen to prevent any further damage. While searching for a good sunscreen I could trust to protect my skin, I learned about
Blue Lizard and how it was recently recognized as one of the most trusted sunscreen products out on the market today. That’s what made me want to pick up a bottle and give it a try – besides did I mention how cool the bottle is?!

A physical sunscreen contains Zinc Oxide that produces the white you see, but the Blue Lizard clears up after you smear it around some more

Ultraviolet rays are the culprit when it comes to sunburns. Most people get sunburns between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p. m. when the sun has peeked its’ intensity. Ultraviolet rays are extremely intense during these hours and can cause premature aging and cancer. Sunlight is composed of the visible light that we can see, and ultraviolet (UV) light that we cannot. There are two types of UV light, UVA and UVB but UVA rays are most harmful because they penetrate deeper into the skin. UVA light is responsible for tanning and UVB for sunburn but both can damage the skin. Most sunscreens protect from the UVB but are lacking in UVA coverage which should be a crime if you ask me. Sunscreens in Australia must protect against 90 percent of UVA rays and in the past, the United States has had no standard of protection against UVA.

The innovative "Smart Bottle" turns blue when UV radiation hits the bottle. As you can see after the hand was removed from the bottle, the white portions are where the fingers were blocking the UV rays

Thank goodness the FDA just announced that they are going to start enforcing sunscreens to provide strict ingredients to ensure adequate protection from the sun because just a few weeks ago the Environmental Working Group tested over 750 sunscreens and 85% of them produced inadequate protection. Just click here and see for yourself. But guess who’s got you covered even after the fact?
Blue Lizard that’s who! So make sure you pick up a bottle of this stuff, it’s a must have for every summer-weather day.

Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen’s Top 5 Tips For Sun Safety:
1. Check Your Sunscreen for both UVA/UVB Protection: Although most U.S. sunscreens protect consumers from the UVB spectrum, it's the UVA rays that are most harmful because they penetrate deeper into the skin. Look for ingredients like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. These ingredients are the safest and most effective for sun protection. Because in Australia sunscreens must protect against 90 percent of UVA,
Blue Lizard Baby goes beyond basic UVB protection by incorporating powerful UVA barriers Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide a compelling visual reminder to apply sunscreen.
2. Your Sunscreen Should Have an SPF of 15 or Higher: Use only broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. SPF only tells you how much protection from UVB (the "burning" rays) the product provides. For protection against UVA (the "aging" rays), look for sunscreen that contains at least 5 percent Zinc Oxide. All Blue Lizard formulas offer more than 30 times your skin's natural protection against UVB rays.
Blue Lizard lists their SPF at 30+ to preserve the integrity of their Australian roots. If you are applying correctly, SPF 30 is really all you need, and 30 is all that Australian Standards will allow sunscreens to claim!
3. Wear a Waterproof Sunscreen: To insure protection from the sun's rays always apply a waterproof sunscreen. Ordinary sunscreen can easily come off from sweating and spending time in the water. "
Blue Lizard sunscreen has been labeled as "very water resistant," retaining its SPF after 240 minutes in moving water. The FDA only requires sunscreens to protect for up to 80 minutes in still water.
4. Apply Sunscreen Before Going in the Sun: Apply 30 minutes before going in the sun and always reapply sunscreen every two hours. Don't forget your ears, back, shoulders, and the back of your knees and legs. Read your product label so you know when to reapply as dictated by your activity.
5. Make Sure Your Sunscreen is Baby/Kid Friendly: Babies tend to have dry sensitive skin, look for a sunscreen that is fragrance and chemical-free.
Blue Lizard BABY Australian Sunscreen is perfect for babies with dry, sensitive, and irritated skin since it is fragrance-free and chemical-free. The creamy sunscreen not only protects your baby from the sun's harmful rays but keeps their skin moisturized!
