On Thursday, July 28th, 2016, I joined Steaz Energy Drinks to celebrate the launch of their new hydrating cactus water, while also enjoying a pre-workout ride at Flywheel Spin Studio. Steaz Cactus Water is a new functional and flavorful line of healthy, ready-to-drink beverages featuring cactus water, an ingredient sourced from the juice of the prickly pear cactus. It is the only certified organic cactus water beverage currently on the market, and the only variety that combines prickly pear juice with organic green tea.

The prickly pear cactus is an ingredient that is beneficial to the whole body, with health properties including:

  • Hydrating: helps to lock in moisture (great for athletes)
  • Anti-Aging:  antioxidant and hydrating properties improves overall skin health & revitalization
  • High in Antioxidants: improved cell health
  • Anti-Inflammatory: fights free radicals that can lead to inflammation
  • Additionally, early stage research has shown that cactus water slows down the onset and spreading of cancer

Steaz is an award-winning brand of flavorful, great tasting, all natural, organic and fair trade green tea based beverages in three healthy and delicious product lines – iced green tea, energy drinks and cactus water. Since 2002, Steaz has continued to provide fans with better, high quality beverages, while maintaining a strong socially responsible relationship with their ingredient partners around the world. Steaz' pride is anchored in their Organic and Fair Trade certifications supporting sustainable farming around the world. The Steaz brand has one goal in mind: to help people lead healthier lives.

There were three delicious flavors to sample of the Steaz Cactus Water during the launch that morning: Original Cactus Water with Green Tea, Cactus Water with Cucumber and Green Tea, and Cactus Water with Starfruit and Green Tea. All were refreshing and delicious. I could actually feel rehydrated and had more energy and concentration after consuming the water. My favorite was the Starfruit and Green Tea, which had the right balance of hydration and was not too sweet. Starfruit is also a fascinating, underappreciated fruit with an interesting texture and taste.

Before my spinning class began, I was greeted by Steaz representatives and learned information about the brand and its products, as well as what the company’s mission is for its customers. There were barrels and tubs of the three featured flavors of cactus water. There was also fresh fruit (apples and bananas) offered for customers to munch on. Customers that day received a gift package which included a Steaz handbag, coupons, and workout bands.

The spinning class itself really challenged my body, which was an amazing workout experience. I have been cycling ever since training wheels came off at age 6, but I had never taken a spinning class. The instructor was professional and very knowledgeable. The bikes consisted of performance technology where I was able to manually change my own speed, torque, and effort of my bike. High-energy music pumped through the entire 45-minute class. The class was a major sweat session and I felt as if my entire body (especially the lower) worked to its highest exertion. I was then able to see why Flywheel is so popular and successful.

If you are ever in Chicago and happen to crave a new spinning class, come check out Flywheel Spin Club…and help yourself afterwards to a Steaz Cactus Water drink to rehydrate.
