Designer Oskar Metsavaht premiered his Spring 2013 collection for the first time ever in NYC during New York Fashion Week. The sleek line debuted for Fashion Editors and celebrity guest Edward Norton, Stefano Tonchi, Suzy Menkes and Leandra Medine.
The designer desired to evoke feelings of an imagined summer day that wanders between a road trip through Pacific Coast Highway and a stroll on Ipanema’s sidewalk. The lights and landscapes of this Endless Summer, where Brazilian Soul meets California dreaming, inspired the prints of this collection, which has a reference of the designers own aesthetics, brought from the Osklen summers.
The collections featured relax easy to wear clothing that encapsulates the essence of California and its carefree society. The Brazilian collection was filled with images of palm trees and sandy beaches in colors reminiscent of a Malibu sunset.
Models with wet beachy hair awed the crowd in sexy sheer tops, cigarette pants, metallic skirts, color-blocked dresses and sophisticated capes in digital prints.
Not only is Osklen known for easy breezy garments in saturated colors but also their use of environmentally friendly fabrics and sustainable materials, which provides women the ability to look stunning and be eco-conscious.
Oskar Metsavaht left quite the impression with a collection that spoke to a carefree spirit. In the words of Metsavaht, “The end result is neither retro nor futuristic. It is modern.”
