Maria Churchill owner of debout routinely makes treks to London, Italy and Paris to find new designer she can introduce to make her store premiere and unique. Celebrities, locals and more flock to debout for this reason.
Located in the Valley, debout has become a cornerstone of one-of-a-kind shoes and accessories for all. debout sits on trendy Ventura Boulevard and carries shoes, bags, jewelry and other accessories from cutting-edge and big named designers beautifully merchandised in a boutique showcasing clean and modern-le Marie chairs from Philippe Stark, tables from Eams and Eileen Gray and vintage original chandelier by Verner Pantone. Even after two successful years, Maria is continually adding new designers to her list of "must haves" found only at debout.
The list of celebrity clientele who shop at debout reads like a list of Who's Who in Hollywood. Since it's 2002 opening, celebs such as: Angela Bassett, Amy Smart, Lisa Rinna, Jeri Ryan, Jane Leeves, Rena Sofer, Sarah Chalke, Janel Maloney, Paula Abdul, Tisha Cambell, Rachel Bilson, Wendy Malik, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Uma Thurman, Maria Bello, Tiffani Theissen, Annette Benning, Alanis Morrisette, Jami Gertz, Leslie Ann Warren, Lisa Ling and Jessica Simpson continue to shop at debout for the latest and greatest accessories.
I recently went into debout and met with Maria to find out what she is featuring for fall. It's the middle of September and fall is finally upon us but as I walked from the heat of Ventura Blvd into the air conditioning of debout it was hard to think about shopping for colder weather amidst the heat wave we've been having in L.A. .
I'm not the only one Maria assured me that women coming into debout weren't as inclined to be interested in the lovely selection of fall/winter boots and shoes she had just gotten in from Italy. They were still shopping as if it were summer. September 22 was the official start of autumn and the weather will get cooler so I forced myself to get into a fall state of mind. One of the trends that I am seeing for fall fashion is textiles and Maria is right on top of it.
Some of my favorites weren't shoes at all but matching socks and scarves made out of menswear textiles like argyle and spots. The scarves are made out of the same material the socks are and to soften the menswear effect they have bits of lace or feathers on the ends. The textiles have also been carried into purses.
Another fun item featured at debout is clogs. There are patented leather clogs in bright happy colors. Or you can show your artistic inclinations and select a hand painted clog with the debout logo, cherry blossoms or I love L.A. hand painted on them.
You'll be seeing a lot of these trends just as soon as the weather cooperates. So join in with the trendy and pick yourself up a few of these hot fall picks.
