Genius of Love by the Tom Tom Club set the vivacious tone for the Nanette Lepore Spring/Summer 2014 Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Nanette Lapore partnered up with TRESemme to create fun, yet fashionable hair for this year’s show. The new Spring/Summer 2014 Collection exuded effortless, yet chic style in a multitude of eclectic fabrics ranging from extremes of natural sheer fabrics to deep, scarlet.
The runways of Nanette Lepore showcased muted stripes, high necklines, and flowy fabrics, creating allure on the runway. Jumpsuits and vibrant colors like teal and chartreuse, kept it young and fresh. Other trending pieces for this spring and summer included cropped collared shirts creating a preppy yet, flirty look paired with and loose-fitting Bermuda shorts. Floral prints in jewel tones added to the glamour of this springs look, while bright, leather messenger bags and totes in an assortment of sizes added appeal to the runway. Free form, open fitted jackets added the “layered look” to sheer dresses, while coral, aqua, and white wedges graced the runway. To coordinate with the many red ensembles, orange-red lipstick was a common staple paired with wispy, free-flowing hair.
Nanette Lepore is commonly found in department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus, but is also prevalent in boutiques from Madison to Melrose. Nanette Lepore is a designer who is constantly evolving, but finds the balance of not being ultra feminine or too fierce with her designs, which attracts many buyers and most often, the “conventional shopper”.
Nanette Lepore is not only a well-known designer from Ohio, but is an advocate that raises awareness for clothing being made in the United States. Lepore whole-heartedly supports clothing production and manufacturing at the New York City Garment Center.
