Royal Things – Debut at The Accessories Show 2013

After her favorite necklace broke, Amber Royal began dabbling in jewelry making and design.  Drawing inspiration from her mother’s collection of vintage jewelry, Amber started Royal Things in 2010. Three years later, Amber is exhibiting at her first trade show in New York City’s Javits Center.

Royal Things stands out from other exhibitors because of Amber’s commitment to charity.  Royal Things started in Baltimore and helped to provide holiday meals to the homeless through the Baltimore Rescue Mission. Since opening a pop-up shop in the winter of 2010, Amber has stayed true to her commitment to aiding the hungry.  Every piece of jewlery sold provides a meal to someone in need.

As the company grows, Amber has been able to increase her influence and work with Action Against Hunger, which provides nutritionally-dense food to malnourished children abroad. Recently, Royal Things relocated to New York City and has partnered with Food Bank For NYC and City Harvest.

This unconventional marriage of making jewelry and ending hunger is reflected in Amber’s unique creations.  Her playful designs include Gobster Earrings, a contemporary take on Willy Wonka’s Everlasting Gobstoppers.  Also reminiscent of molecule clusters, these earrings make a bold statement.

Amber’s new Genome Necklaces are funky, original designs that play with color and shape.  These statement necklaces are a perfect complement to a plain black dress or white button-down shirt.  The Genome Necklaces come in a variety of hues and feature thick, interwoven strands.  Just like strands of DNA, each necklace is unique.

Royal Things also includes a small collection of charming vintage accessories. Old-fashioned purses, brooches, and rings sit beside Amber’s striking contemporary designs.  This mixture of old and new adds a unique flair to her collection and hints at the influence her mother’s taste in jewelry had on her.

Combining her love of jewelry with a cause close to her heart, has allowed Amber to save the world in style.  As her website proclaims; “We like food, and jewelry too.”Any fashionista or humanitarian would be proud to wear Amber’s Royal Things.
