Ending the week of New York Fashion Week with Falguni and Shane Peacock was the exclamation point at the end of a great experience. The creativity of the design duo shows no limits. The opening look of an all black gown with cutouts, a metal choker and corset complete with Wild Child brazened on the open back foreshadowed the remaining extensive collection to come. The designer said backstage, “This collection is meant for every woman that has a wild streak…that little edginess needs to come out. I don’t like things to be too pretty.” Well, the edginess was definitely present in this collection as the quintessential Bond girl, equal parts diva and dangerous.
Architecture was a key feature on each of the garments using peplum metal corsets to play up the small waists of the models and accentuate the hips creating an hourglass figure. Strong and powerful shoulders were exaggerated and played up the cat eye while creating a futuristic silhouette. Exposed zippers elongated the torso down the back while adding to the sexiness of the collection.
Loads of embellishments were seen throughout the runway show including feathers, beading, and sequins. Staying true to the identity and namesake of the brand, the design duo favored feathers, bright shades of blue and beaded gowns as the bones of the collection. Fully beaded floor length gowns, feathered shoulders and even sleeves, fully feathered ball gowns were all big crowd pleasers.
Leather gloves, leggings, choker necklaces, piping and caging details all combined to create a dominatrix vibe. The edginess paired with the sultry figure skimming gowns and glamorous embellishments make for the ultimate statement making moment.
With the conclusion of the show, Falguni and Shane Peacock were greeted with a standing ovation and hoards of clapping and cheers. The majority of this collection will certainly be seen all over the red carpets by the likes of Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Eve.
