The City of Glendale proudly presents this exhibit of 50 compelling Associated Press images, including a photo from every championship game since the first game in 1967. The public is cordially invited to the opening celebration on Friday, Jan. 9, from 6-9 p.m. Relive the trials and triumphs of these iconic moments as Arizona embarks in hosting its third Super Bowl. AP Images is the exclusive commercial photo partner for the National Football League and the definitive source for NFL photographs, providing powerful and unique imagery of games, athletes and special events. Admission is free. Westgate Entertainment District Parking is free except on Pro Bowl & Super Bowl Sundays, which is $60 cash only.


Super Bowl XLIX “Green” Legacy Tree Planting Ceremony

Historic Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave.
Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9 a.m.

In honor of Arizona hosting its third Super Bowl, the City of Glendale has received a $3,500 grant to replace aged and dying citrus trees at the Historic Sahuaro Ranch Park. The grant will be used by an all-volunteer force to help plant the new trees. The tree planting event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 9 a.m. Four local cities were awarded matching grants by the NFL and the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee in partnership with Super Bowl sponsor Verizon and local nonprofit Valley Permaculture Alliance. Admission and parking are free.


DIRECTV’s Super Fan Festival

Pendergast Family Farm, across from University of Phoenix Stadium
Wednesday, Jan. 28 to Friday, Jan. 30
Beginning daily at 5 p.m.

The three-day music festival will feature 12 artists, including: Zac Brown Band, Calvin Harris, Imagine Dragons and Snoop Dogg. The festival also features a variety of other activities, including a mechanical bull, a zip line, a carnival-style shooting range, a Par 3 Closest to the Pin contest; a test track giving fans the opportunity to try a new car; a football skills challenge hosted by NFL Hall of Famer Lynn Swann of the Pittsburgh Steelers; a Bud Light Biergarten; and the Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen Experience,” allowing fans an opportunity to win cash and prizes. Jonathan and Drew Scott of HGTV’s “Property Brothers” will also be on hand to emcee the opening sets each night at the HGTV Lodge. Tickets are $99-$299, on sale now at and a three-day package is also available for $299-$799. Parking is included with the ticket price.


The Westgate Entertainment District Super Music Series

6 to 10 p.m. each night from Jan. 28-31, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 1

The free outdoor concert series will feature a different music genre each night, from classic rock and electronic dance music to country and 80’s hits. Westgate is home to more than 20 restaurants, bars and retailers in addition to an open-air beer garden around the stage and other fan activities. Guests over 21 can also enjoy an open-air beer garden benefiting the 100 Club of Arizona, which provides financial assistance, emotional support, safety enhancement stipends and other material aid to public safety workers and their immediate family members. Westgate is home to Buffalo Wild Wings, Yard House, McFadden’s, Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, Johnny Rockets, and the state’s largest AMC Theatres featuring 20 screens. Admission is free. Westgate Entertainment District Parking is free except on Pro Bowl & Super Bowl Sundays, which is $60 cash only.

20th Annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire

The 20th Annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire in Historic Downtown Glendale will be a chocolate lover’s paradise, with special activities geared toward sports fans, as well. Visitors will delight in the nearly 40 chocolate purveyors, featuring confections like chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate-drizzled kettle corn, chocolate-covered nuts, berry chocolate kabobs, fudge popsicles, chocolate covered cheesecake and bananas, fried Twinkies, fried Snickers dipped in chocolate and much more, along with free admission and free parking! The Chocolate Affaire is sponsored by Arizona’s famous candy makers, Cerreta Candy Company. Admission is free. Plenty of free parking spots are available in the downtown area, but event attendees also have the option of paying for preferred parking in the two downtown garages, located at City Hall, at 59th and Glendale avenues and the Bank of America Building, at 58th and Glenn drives. Both garages should be accessed from 59th Avenue and Glenn Drive. The cost of paid parking is $10.


NFL Game Day Fan Plaza (Must have ticket to game)

This interactive football experience will be open to ticket-holders only on Super Bowl

Sunday. It will feature four different interactive games that will challenge fans’ football skills. The Extra Point Kick will test participants’ ability to convert an extra point through regulation NFL uprights. Let It Fly puts participants in the quarterback position and shows just how far each person can toss a spiral downfield. Next, the Quarterback Challenge shows off accuracy on special targets. And finally, Touch Pass will test participants’ ability to pass with enough arc to clear the defender and enough aim to drop in into the target. Must have ticket to the Super Bowl game to attend. Parking is provided with ticket and parking pass for the Super Bowl game.
