I was on my way to a ski trip to Banff Lake Louise, Alberta Canada and realized I didn’t have the proper outerwear for the trip. It was important to me to get the best looking highest quality ski wear that would not only prevent me from being cold but also keep me from being too warm while on the slopes. In order to find the ski wear that matched my requirements and to ensure I stayed as warm in the frozen tundra of Alberta Canada, I did as I always do and began my search for the perfect winter outerwear on Google which led me to Bergans of Norway. They matched my requirements perfectly.
Bergans of Norway, with over 100 year history of creating outerwear and outdoor accessories, began in 1908 by creating legendary rucksacks which throughout the years evolved into the modern backpack. Bergans of Norway, another people group who live in the frozen tundra, along with the legendary rucksack, has created outerwear that has allowed people throughout the years to work, live and play, in winter and remain warm and dry.
So after researching the history of Bergans of Norway I decided the Stranda Softshell Jacket, the Isogaisa Jacket and Oppdal Pants were something I wanted to try. The first impression upon receiving Bergans of Norway Ski wear was the beauty and quality of the garments but, the true test came with the extreme weather conditions Bergans of Norway boost of protecting wearers from.
My first ski day was in a blizzard with high winds that nearly knocked you down, zero visibility, heavy blowing and drifting snow and cold but thanks to my protective cocoon of Bergans of Norway outerwear I was snug as a bug in a rug! I was protected from the elements, warm and able to focus on my instructor without the weather distractions of lesser quality clothing.
The Stranda Softshell Jacket of Bergans of Norway has fixed hood, high collar and a zippered front. Stranda Softshell Jacket of Bergans of Norway also has chest and sleeve pockets and welded sleeve pockets and a chest pocket for a media player. The ending of the sleeves are tapered with extra long ventilation zippers under armpit and a Velcro cuff adjustment, defined elbows with an Extended back panel and a draw cord at the hem.
The Isogaisa Jacket of Bergans of Norway, a lightweight technical jacket made from 3-layer New Generation Dermizax. The ultra thin Dermizax membrane utilizes the membranes polymer molecule movement, to efficiently absorb perspiration build up on the fabric’s inner layer. The buildup vapor than permeates through the fabric, quickly escaping and evaporating to the outside.
Bergans of Norway’s Isogaisa Jacket could be called a smart jacket. Made of new Dermizax, the Isogaisa Jacket internal membrane is waterproof and windproof. As the Isogaisa Jacket breathes, the perspiration wicking capability is doubled, allowing the wearer to stay warm during extended time in sub-zero temperatures. It has four-way stretch material allowing freedom of movement and has an extended back, a fixed hood customized for helmet with an asymmetrical closing in the front. Front pockets, chest pocket, sleeve pocket, inner pocket and goggle pocket lined with mesh for extra ventilation. Isogaisa Jacket of Bergans of Norway has pockets to spare!
A couple days later while skiing at Lake Louise, the conditions were exactly opposite, beautiful, sunny clear perfect, and yet my Bergans of Norway, outerwear were able to adjust utilizing the features, built in to the clothing including utilizing the zipper and one of my favorite features was the waist strap to seal the jacket to keep the snow from getting inside your clothes. Oppdal Pants of Bergans of Norway, a lined, lightweight, technical pant made from a soft and comfortable material, are a 2-layer waterproof, windproof and made with perspiration wicking Bergans Element.
Oppdal Pants has four-way stretch Front pockets, back pocket, ventilation zips outside of the thighs and zip from the knee down. They’re high-waisted with a detachable back panel, adjustable suspenders and Velcro adjustment at the waist and belt hoops.
Also the Oppdal Pants of Bergans of Norway have tailored knee sections, reinforced sections on the inside leg and Velcro adjustment at the ankles, Internal, fixed gaiter with internal friction elastic, hook attachment for boot and hoop to attach gaiter band and a reflective logo. The next day I did snow shoeing in heavy powder up to 8 feet deep ergo the snow shoes and during the shoeing had the Bergans of Norway snow protectors feature failed I would be shoeing with snow and soppy wet socks up to my knees.
So based on the very condition I experienced on my six day trip to Alberta, Canada, I highly recommend and will exclusively use Bergans of Norway and look forward to testing, in my extreme weather trips, additional Bergans of Norway items.
