Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium a Review

The industry leader in design software is at it again.  With the Creative Suite 2 Premium, Adobe has sweetened the package, and reduced the price tag.  The good news doesn't stop there.  Version 2 offers improved functionality, and integration of all the included programs.
The Creative Suite 2 Premium bundle includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, Acrobat 7.0 Professional, and the indispensable new Adobe Bridge.

Take it to the Bridge

Although it can work as a stand alone, Bridge is a direct descendent of Version 1's File Browser function, primarily designed for use in conjunction with the other apps.  And you won't believe how useful this improved function is.  Easily accessible at the click of a button, Bridge is a visual file browser that displays scalable thumbnail previews of the files on your hard drive. But that's not all.  Bridge is packed with time-saving features, such as drag-and-drop import, editable and searchable metadata, file rating, slide shows, batch processing, Camera Raw conversion, and color-management synchronization.
Amazingly enough, it seems that Adobe's improved every program in the bundle. Illustrator CS2 has some great new features including Live Trace, Live Paint, and Adobe Photoshop layer comp support.  Acrobat 7.0 Professional is sweeter too, with the ability to correct problems such as converting colors, flattening transparencies, remapping spot colors, previewing separations, and fixing hairline rules without having to recreate the file.

Stock photos

There's also a direct link to the new Adobe Stock Photos online service (a clearinghouse for half a dozen of the leading stock photo agencies), which lets you search, view, and buy images from within the app you're using. Looking for that perfect image?  Chances are you can find it.

If design is your game, and you're looking to take a step up, take a long, hard look at the Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium.  You'll be glad you did.
