Blackberry Torch 9800

Let me tell you first that my world changed when I got the Blackberry Torch 9800! I was warned by my assistant that it would and she was right! The phone is everything you want a phone to be but goes so far beyond what you could ever expect or imagine. I got the phone before a trip to New York to attend Fashion Week. I had not been to NYC for 15 years and did not know my way around at all. The Blackberry Torch made my getting around easy all the while being able to easily check my emails, make and receive phone calls and text messages and be amazingly productive. I personally love the slider feature allowing me to either use the large on screen keyboard or my favorite, sliding the keyboard out to reveal a manual touch keyboard, far easier for my big fingers. And I know I have just scratched the surface of what the Blackberry Torch has to offer.

While in New York, each day and often each hour, as I discovered more of the features that were offered for free in the Torch I fell more and more in love. The navigation offered by ATT Navigator and ATT Maps made my getting from New Jersey to the Lincoln Center and all the dozens of other places I needed to get to for showroom appointments, dinners, appointments and more possible with ease. I was a stranger in NYC but with the help of my Blackberry Torch 9800 I felt like a native. I was able to use the phone most everywhere I went; Google Maps let me see street views so I could know I was getting into the correct subway entrance. I was even able to help other newbie’s to NYC get around or know where they were. I took the Ferry and with the easy internet connection offered in the Torch was always able to see the location of the Ferry bus on a service offered by the Ferry and never missed the bus! I was easily able to keep up on my Tweets, Facebook and other Social Networking. The power that this phone brings is amazing and I can’t wait to get acquainted with many, many more of the thousands of Apps available at the BlackBerry App World and to learn the many other features the Torch has to offer. It feels like Christmas with every new toy (App) I find and all the Apps I have tried so far are entirely free!

With technology constantly changing it is no wonder why the new Blackberry Torch 9800 has been created. The Blackberry Torch 9800 has the same basic functions that previous blackberry phones have had but at a better quality, speed, and functionality. The Blackberry Torch 9800 also includes new functions that are crucial and pertinent to today’s’ work force.

The Blackberry cell phone has been in existence since 1999. It took Blackberry five years to reach one million users, ten months after, Blackberry reached its two million user mark. Since then Blackberry has been steadily on the rise, now reaching 14 million users.

The creation of the Blackberry Torch 9800 could not have come at a better time. The new updated features have made the Blackberry Torch 9800 a new requested item. TheBlackberry Torch 9800 offers an immense amount of similarities to previous Blackberries. The size, style, and weight are similar; however, there is a significant amount of updates, new features, and tweaks on performance with the Blackberry Torch 9800 that makes this cell phone a unique and worthy device.

The Blackberry Torch 9800 is a Blackberry of many ‘firsts’; the first Blackberry with touch screen, slide keyboard, and Blackberry 6 which makes the Blackberry Torch 9800 a ‘one-stop shop’.  Blackberry is typically seen as a ‘business phone’, the Blackberry Torch 9800 is no different. With a range of managing options, the Blackberry Torch 9800 can handle various accounts with a simple click. This new Blackberry gives its user the opportunity to manage multiple open websites with a new feature called ‘tabbed browsing’. With tabbed browsing the user is able to bookmark favorite sites and also save the sites with personalized icons and customizable names, which further supports the personalization between the Blackberry Torch 9800 and its user.

The Blackberry Torch comes loaded with capabilities

The Blackberry Torch 9800 has a 5MP camera with flash and continuous focus and image stabilization and 11 photo modes and recording in order to capture last minute memories. One major factor that is an important variable when focusing on product highlights is the battery life. TheBlackberry Torch 9800 has proven to deliver results in this department with 5.8 hours of talk time, or 30 hours of music playtime or 6 hours of video playback.

Another key feature of the Blackberry Torch 9800 is ‘sure type’. Sure type takes ‘auto-correction’ to a new level. You are able to type quickly and accurately with sure type because of word recognition software that monitors your unique word patterns and words frequently used thus creating a customized list for the terms you use the most.

One key word that comes to mind when describing the Blackberry Torch 9800 is simplicity. TheBlackberry Torch 9800 is said to have the best search engine for a mobile device with its ‘universal search engine’. You are able to conduct a quick search with anything from applications, music, contacts, to notes, and emails by beginning to type the name, and it will finish it for you. It also gives you the opportunity to import your email contacts to your phone, to serve as a ‘back up’. This function allows you to create labels, archiving, and manage folders.

The Blackberry Torch 9800 truly captures Blackberries historical strength and evolution as a brand. The Blackberry Torch 9800 serves the needs of both the everyday individual as well as the very hectic business individual that is managing multiple accounts. Like previous Blackberries, theBlackberry Torch 9800 stands by its mission and delivers results. It is no wonder how Blackberry is constantly increasing its number of users.

My only complaint is the volume of the speaker . I can solve this by using bluetooth but would have prefered it if the volume was easily heard without needing to put the speaker close to my ear.
