Penn Foster Review - Celebrating 125 Years in Education

Online Education

There are many roads to success. Fortunately, some roads are shorter and easier than others; Penn Foster offers one of those roads. Penn Foster is an online school best known for its College, Career Programs and High School programs. There are endless reasons why continuing your education is important. Yet, one of the main reasons why people stop attending school is due to the stress connected with time management. The beauty of Penn Foster is that it’s a school that works around your schedule. There is never a mandatory set time to be on your computer ready for class.  With Penn Foster you can continue working, taking care of your family, volunteering, or whatever your responsibilities are and still continue classes at your convenience.

Being able to get a degree, certificate, or diploma while lying in bed wearing your pajamas sounds too good to be true but it is true. Having said that, the fact that all Penn Foster Programs are cost efficient makes this opportunity perfect.

How did Penn Foster come about? The International Correspondence Schools or ICS (now named Penn Foster) was founded by Thomas J. Foster in 1890. Thomas J. Foster founded ICS in response to Pennsylvania’s largest mining disaster in 1869. ICS was meant to train miners in engineering, and to teach safety to prevent workers from harming themselves, or harming the value of the workplace. Now the sole purpose of Penn Foster is to continue educating and training Americans with the technical skills necessary to not only find jobs, but also to gain the qualifications needed to succeed in a career.

125 Years of Education

2015 marks the 125th anniversary of Penn Foster! Throughout the years Penn Foster progressed quickly and is breaking records with a total of 13 million students who have enrolled in Penn Foster since it was founded. The number of students is only increasing with an astonishing of 100,000 people enrolling in Penn Foster annually. Penn Foster is a proud and respected school due to its commitment to students and and increasing number of graduates.

Congratulations Penn Foster faculty and alumni on 125 years!

I am currently enrolled in the Penn Foster College Veterinary Technician Program. As a student aiming for success, the Veterinary Technician Program is by far the best choice I could have made. Being a Penn Foster student has already opened up so many opportunities. For example, I am currently interning at a non-profit animal rescue organization named Voice For The Animals, which I obtained thanks to the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician Program. The Veterinary Technician Program has made several things possible for me, such as being able to balance all aspects of work, school, interning and still have the opportunity and time to fulfill my other responsibilities. This freedom leaves me time to attend community college to take my general education classes.  Thanks to Penn Foster I am on my way to becoming an actual Veterinarian.

The Veterinary Technician Program is much like traditional school; there are e-books I can take with me anywhere at anytime as long as I have my laptop, phone, or tablet. There are teachers I can reach if I need help, and faculty available 24/7 to answer any questions. Just like other schools, I have classmates in whom we can interact through the Student Community to talk about the lessons and/or help each other with understanding the curriculum.

I can’t wait to start my career as a Veterinary Technician, and eventually a Veterinarian. Penn Foster has helped me achieve so much that even after receiving an Associates Degree, I plan to continue my studies by enrolling in Penn Foster Career School for animal related courses such as Pet Grooming in the Certificate Program or Dog Obedience Instructor in the Diploma Program. No matter the situation or the course, Penn Foster helps students build a successful career and is proud to be a part of the growth and success of its students.

On a survey conducted in 2013, students were asked three simple questions. Did they achieve their learning goal? Would they recommend the institution to a friend, and were they satisfied with their studies? As expected, 97% of Penn Foster students answered “Yes” to all three questions.

It’s never too late to start school; Penn Foster is the road to success! I suggest you become part of the proud Penn Foster family! Contact the admissions specialist at 1-800-275-4410 or enroll online.
