Dog Arthritis, Hip Dysplasia, and Joint Pain Relief Roundup – There Is Help

Can you teach an old dog’s aching bones new tricks? With the help of some wonderful products, we’ve found the answer to be YES.

Daisy

Let me tell you about Daisy Splash Magazines official first dog. She’s a lovely Dalmatian who turned fourteen years old this last fourth of July. Daisy is a very happy dog whos favorite things to do are eat and chase her other step brother and sister dog’s around. However over the last couple of years she’s felt the tug of time passing and has developed some major “hitches in her giddy up”. They all revolve around her lower back and hip areas. She’s been diagnosed with arthritis and hip dysplasia.

Those of you with aging pets know the heartache of watching your beloved pet not be able to move around freely like they did when they were younger. It really pulls at the heart strings to watch Daisy struggle in pain to just sit or lie down. She been know to just wander around the room bumping into everything, getting stuck in corners unable to back up easily, behavior that we believe is an attempt to move away from her pain. When trying to sit she’ll walk around in multiple circles and when she finally gets up the courage to sit, she never goes completely down instead you’ll see her putting her weight on one leg only and balancing an inch or two above the ground. She no longer loves to run outside once the door is open. Instead she stands wistful at the doorway sniffing around with a full bladder wondering how she is going to make it down the stoop of three stairs. Once she has made it outside the problem still hasn’t been solved because she can’t even squat like a normal dog to relieve herself. She’s resorted to draining her bladder as she attempts a walking half squat and slow run away from the pain of the movement. Like I said it’s heartbreaking and I’m sure it’s a story similar to many others out there of aging pets.

Her human daddy began a quest of finding something, anything that would help or in the best of situations heal her. Below are a listing of some of the products found and the benefits reaped.

Help Em Up Harness

Help Em Up Harness

The Help Em Up Harness is a complete shoulder and hip harness system. It was designed to help aging dogs and also dogs suffering from muscle loss and those recovering from injuries or surgery. It is a harness that fits around the mid section and hips of a dog. The harness has handles which are easy to reach allowing you to offer immediate assistance. Our old system of stabilizing Daisy was grabbing a sling slipping it under her hips jockeying her to the door and praying that the pressure of lifting her with the sling wouldn’t push against her bladder encouraging it to empty on us or the floor. The rear “Hip Lift” feature of the harness is invaluable because we can literally grab the front handle and rear handle and easily lift her full body from the house down the stairs to the outdoors without the fear of a bladder incident. The Help Em Up Harness has also been beneficial because it stays on her and we can grab the handles and help her when she needs to be led away from a corner she may have wandered herself into or even at times on her really bad days to help her stabilize herself to get a drink of water from her water bowl.

Flexpet

Flexpet

Flexpet is an all-natural, safe, holistic pet supplement that delivers special nutrients and herbs to the joint, bones, and surrounding tissue. In addition to alleviating the pain, this high quality canine joint supplement can boost a dog's immunity, strengthen the skeletal system, remove harmful toxins and promote general health and well being. So now you know what Flexpet is; the real question is does it work? In Daisy’s experience the answer is yes, it definitely helped her feel better. She started on Flexpet and in a short time it was easy to see she felt better. This was demonstrated by her increased mobility and activity level. When she is on Flexpet she isn’t as restless (running away from the pain), she has the ability to sit and lie down with greater ease and even on occasion tackle the stairs almost like her old self.

Drinkables Liquid Joint Care

Drinkables Liquid Joint Care

Both humans and animals store substances in their cartilage called Glucosamine and Chondroitin. In fact a dog’s body in attempt to keep healthy joints manufactures Glucosamine. As in humans when a dog ages the ability to create Glucosamine reduces and the result can be joint pain and arthritis. By supplementing your dog with a combination of Glucosamine plus Chondroitin (which makes it more available) you can help maintain your dog’s joint health, and even alleviate pain. These two supplements reduce enzymes which may destroy cartilage and enhance the ability of cells to rebuild that destroyed cartilage. Drinkables Liquid Joint Care is a high quality supplement in an effective liquid form. The liquid form makes it is easier to swallow, faster to digest and it requires fewer doses while offering more bioavailability than many pills and capsules. Daisy gets hers poured right on top of her food, she likes the flavor and has shown improvements after taking it.
