“I still have my feet on the ground, I just wear better shoes,” said Oprah Winfrey.  It is believed that shoes help in depicting an individual's personality. Steven Dann, better known as the shoe expert, feels that an amazing look can not be accomplished without the right shoes. Over the years Dann has been refer to as the go to guy for shoes because of the passion that he emits when speaking of shoes. “People will forget what you've done or said but for some reason they will never forget the shoe you wore. It could make or break the look,” said Dann.  Steven Dann owns his own boutique ( Steven Dann Boutique) which is located in Great Neck New York. The boutique carries the most exclusive brands in men and women such as Valentino, Casadei, Luciano Padovan, Givenchy and Giuseppe Zanotti to name a few. Steven Dann personally hand picks what he will carry each fashion season.  He also reviews all the collections and picks stand out pieces. Then he collaborates with the designers to tweak it to make it a best seller. “The collections are bought as a life style, so there is always a shoe to accommodate the occasion,” said Dann.

Steven Dann's obsession for shoes started at the tender age of 12. “I used to run away from camp and go into town, where there was a shoe store my family shopped at named Maraolo. I would just hang out there,” said Dann. As soon as he turned fourteen he asked to work at Maraolo for free. After a year of stellar work he was received the salesperson of the year award. Dann feels a great appreciation for those who helped him lay the ground rules for learning about business management. “I owe my foundation and fundamentals to the Maraolo management team. It was an amazing experience. They (Maraolo) don't exist today but back then they had 26 stores nation wide and also owned a factory in Italy that produced the shoes for Armani, and Donna Karen which ironically I also worked for later on in my career,” said Dann.

These boots are so popular; they are usually pre-sold before the boots even hit the stores in July! These boots are a walking advertisement for Dann; he shared an anecdote about his riding boots that was big news for him. “Last fall a client was in Bergdorff Goodman wearing my ridding boots and three clients were interested in purchasing the boots. In addition, even the sales person called from the selling floor to order them, said Dann! Dann shared his final outlook on shoes. “A new shoe can always resurrect a classic wardrobe piece. At the end of the day it's really the shoe that completes a look and makes it fresh.
