It was 7:00am when we received the call that the Hercules Van Lines moving van would meet us at my Grandmother's home in 30 minutes.  That allowed my uncle to depart his home and my husband, my 9 1/2 month old daughter and me to leave ours and all convene at the home that was my grandparent's warm and welcome abode for more than 47+ years.  The call was a very welcome courtesy from the Hercules moving company staff starting us off on the right foot!

With our unique situation, we were grateful that these guys were prepared to plan the filling of the truck according to the order of delivery.  So everything that was going to end up at our apartment building went into the back of the truck so that my uncle's items could be accessible in the front of the van when they stopped at his house first.

Hercules Van Lines provided blankets, boxes, tape and newsprint to properly wrap all of our belongings and then proceeded to carefully move each item from the second floor home, down a turn-back stairway, down the porch stairs and along the narrow sidewalk, down the driveway and finally into the moving van parked at the curb.

Over and over and over again, these three guys made the 'Herculean' effort down our own personal obstacle course and back up until everything was safely in the van.  The patient, friendly and efficient service was a pleasure to experience.

We received the same smiling, courteous attention upon delivery even when we changed our minds as to where to put things!  All told, the move took approximately 9 hours.  The guys disassembled, wrapped, lifted, carried, climbed, pushed, placed, unwrapped, reassembled and positioned all day long without complaint or irritation.  We even had an unusually large couch that ended up not fitting through the apartment's entry hall.  The Hercules Van Lines crew tried every possible way to get that sofa into the apartment, but all their ingenuity and tenacity could not shrink that couch!  They even offered to come back another day and haul it up over the balcony.  In the end, we decided we had to forego the couch and Hercules Van Lines was willing to take it and deliver it for donation.  Who would have thought?!

  Clear out unwanted goods - hold a garage sale.
  Get rid of flammables - paint, petrol, gas cylinders.
  Empty fuel from mowers, clippers, trimmers and so on.
  Clothes - do you need them all? Charity shops may want them.
